Dating back to 1905, The Old School House is a charming and characterful cottage that was once the original schoolhouse for the neighbouring school. Full of personality and thoughtful touches that reflect its past, you’ll notice subtle nods to school days throughout the property, including a traditional gym bench, adding to the unique charm of this delightful coastal retreat.
Ideally located in the heart of Scarborough, the cottage is perfectly placed for exploring everything this much-loved seaside town has to offer. The sandy beach of Scarborough South Bay is just a five-minute walk away, while the scenic Scarborough North Bay can be reached in around ten minutes, making it easy to enjoy seaside walks, traditional fish and chips, or a day by the sea.
Inside, the cottage offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The cosy lounge, complete with a woodburning stove, provides the perfect place to relax after a day exploring the coast. Settle down with a film on the TV or enjoy an evening together with the selection of board games available.
The spacious dining room is ideal for sharing meals together, while two steps lead down to the adjoining well-equipped kitchen, offering everything you need if you enjoy cooking during your stay.
To the rear of the property, a door leads out to a small outdoor seating area, where you can enjoy some fresh air while overlooking the neighbouring school and playground.

Perfectly located, close to enough to walk to everywhere in Scarborough. Mostly managed to park right outside, except one evening we had to leave the car a bit further along the road. Cottage is really comfortable and clean, with everything provided that we could possibly need, along with plenty of things to keep us and the kids entertained too!

The property is excellent in both location & itself offering great comfort & charm in every room.a very short walk 5 mins away is the indoor market where I always go as you can purchase fruit & vegetables & meat products from the butchers & the deli section offers cold meats & pastry's both savoury & sweet even hot & cold refreshments & food.A further 10 mins walk heading south will take you to South Bay Area & through the town centres shops,bars & restaurants.Within 5 mins walk down the street is the always welcoming LEEDS ARMS a great place to call in for chill & base place to meet up when people are out doing different things & that’s the same for the SCARBOROUGH ARMS 5mins up the hill.we always head out walking to pease Holme park & scalby mill & thats well in reach on a nice day 👍 overall I would recommend this property to any one wanting to visit Scarborough both the owners & cleaning staff we met couldn’t be more helpful it will be top of our accommodation list when booking our next trip.A big thank you to all members in there team ❤️
