"Charming cottages situated in a scenic holiday location, which form an ideal base from which to explore the stunning scenery of the North Yorkshire Coast..."

The six cottages at Killerby Old Hall are ideal for a countryside holiday whilst being less than 2 miles from the beach of Cayton Bay. The owners live on-site and guests can enjoy the countryside or relax in the indoor heated swimming pool. The accommodation ranges from the Dovecote sleeping 14 in period splendour, through to cosy Chestnut Cottage which sleeps 6. Set in a pretty courtyard, each cottage is different yet has its own sitting-out area with patio furniture and four of the cottages have private hot tubs.

Killerby Old Hall is situated between the coastal resorts of family friendly Filey, with its cobble landing and pretty promenade, and Scarborough, with its vibrant South Bay and naturally picturesque North Bay, located on part of Britain’s heritage coast. The Stephen Joseph Theatre, famed throughout the county, puts on a number of Alan Ayckbourn productions. To the north, across the stunning North Yorkshire Moors, lies the port of Whitby; famous for its connections to Captain James Cook and Dracula. Robin Hood’s Bay, a former fishing village with a smugglers past, has quaint streets which lead visitors to a small, sandy cove and rock pools. Heading inland, find the historic market town of Pickering, where the famous North Yorkshire Moors steam train begins its journey. Access Dalby Forest through the attractive village of Thornton-le-Dale and be sure to stop for an ice cream. The forest offers a range of activities including mountain bike tracks, or for those feeling adventurous there is Go Ape. It is also a popular picnic destination which is surrounded by walks that the whole family can enjoy. Travel a little further afield to Castle Howard with its stunning house and grounds. The ancient, Roman walled city of York sits just an hour up the A64, a famously haunted city with many attractions such as the railway museum, river trips and excellent shopping. To the south along the coast, the Cleveland Way leads to dramatic Flamborough Head and the Bempton rspb Sanctuary. The village of Cayton is a 500 yard stroll, with two local pubs, post office and shop. Full amenities are just over 4 miles away in Scarborough and fishing is available nearby. Beach 1 mile. Shop, pub and restaurant 500 yards.

Great place for 3 generations of our family to stay together. Scarborough, Filey and Whitby within easy reach and even York. Circus just up the road was well worth a visit with discount vouchers from reception! Great having a bistro on site which suited everyone. Kids loved the play park and adults loved the hot tub! We also thought being able to book the pool for a private hour was a good idea. We spent our last day on Cayton beach which was perfect. The only downside was the wasp nest which affected the children’s room. It was dealt with by a professional firm, but as there was a chance that some larvae might survive the treatment we didn’t feel happy to use the room again, so had to change sleeping arrangements, which wasn’t ideal. Having said all that, we would definitely book this property again. Would also like to say that every member of staff we spoke to were extremely helpful and polite and nothing was too much trouble.

We had a 3 generational family holiday here recently and found the accommodation fitted our needs perfectly. There was plenty of room for everyone. The cottage was only a short ride to both Scarborough and Filey. The site was quiet and safe with the pool, playground and eating area so close it allowed our grandson's more freedom than normal. They absolutely loved the pool and hot tub. Our only concern with the field and playground was that the surface was a little uneven and could lead to some injuries. Some of the furnishings were a little past their best, a sofa with covering coming off the headrests, a blind in the smallest bedroom not staying down, a cracked light shade in the hall and two mattresses that really could do with replacing. We also had concerns with the glass doors, maybe door stops could be provided as the doors slammed if we had the French windows open. We also had a bit of an issues with flies. The property was close to the bins but maybe some fly catchers could be provided. We did have a wonderful time and would definitely go back.

We had a lovely weekend and the kids loved the pool and hot tub. The only reason for the downgrade is the showers as there was poor pressure ( which I appreciate could just be the location) and only having 2 showers for potentially 12 people isn’t enough. Having said that we would certainly book again and the upgrades since we last visited in 2017 are brilliant.
