Enjoy a wonderful stay at Anchors Away, which is a contemporary second-floor apartment sitting in Whitby, North Yorkshire; close to the seaside and the River Esk, and only a short stroll to Whitby town centre and beach.
The apartment is well-furnished throughout, offering a sophisticated setting for a family of four's seaside break in this area of Yorkshire. On arrival, you will be greeted with private parking for one car, guaranteeing a stress-free start to your holiday! As you make your way into this lovely property, you will be greeted with a fantastic living/dining room, where a bucket chair and La-Z-Boy reclining sofa provide you with a seat in front of the Smart TV with Freeview; the area also has a lovely dining table where you can gather the group and tuck into tasty meals. These meals may be prepared in the kitchen, which features an abundance of integrated equipment, including a handy dishwasher! In the evening, retire to one of two beautiful bedrooms, one king-size and one twin; both bedrooms include storage and dressing tables for extra convenience. The family bathroom is nearby, and it has a bath with shower over, where you can rest your muscles after a day packed with fun on the coast.
Head into Whitby's centre to find a variety of conveniences, from well-stocked stores to numerous cafes/restaurants/bars, as well as plenty of sights, such as the historic Whitby Abbey, which can be accessed by the renowned 199 Steps, The Cinder Track walking trail, and the fascinating Whitby Museum. Travel South down the coast to Scarborough, where there are activities for all ages, including the sights of Scarborough Castle and the Rotunda Museum, as well as the thrilling attractions of Alpamare UK, SEA LIFE, and the Scarborough North Railway. Travel North to Guisborough for an expedition in the countryside, where you can immerse yourself in the local history at the Guisborough Museum and Priory, before venturing to the picturesque Guisborough Forest or the North York Moors National Park, which includes the wonders of Roseberry Topping and High Cliff. Continue along the Cleveland Way to visit even more seaside locations, from Staithes to Robin Hood's Bay, or explore more of the North York Moors, which includes the stunning scenery of moorland, woods, and magnificent valleys. Having a car parking space was helpful, especially after a long drive. Everything worked and there was every utensil that I think most people would likely need. I found the bed comfortable. The master bedroom was a decent size with plenty of hanging and storage space. This is a minor gripe, but there's no space in the kitchen cupboards, due to the plentiful stock of utensils. Realistically, though, if you're eating out a lot, the fridge-freezer will suffice, otherwise you'll need to keep dry goods elsewhere. Like I say, it's minor and didn't cause us problems over our three night stay. Would be happy to stay again.

All services worked and the appliances were faultless. Parking was provided directly outside the rear entrance. The keys were left in a keysafe on the outside wall of the building. The keys themselves were a problem because four keys were provided, each had its own keyring with an identification tab and divider and were all clipped together making them bulky and the identification and use of an individual key difficult. Because the keys were bulky they were awkward and uncomfortable to carry in a pocket, I would suggest that the individual keys are given a colour coded cap and are attached in order of use onto the same keyring to make them more useable. Access to the apartment was via three flights of stairs which I believe would have been a severe problem for anyone with mobility issues. The heating system easily kept the apartment at at a comfortable temperature however it did seem to be programmed to be active 24 hours a day, we opted to turn the boiler off late evening to stop it firing in the night and then turned it back on in the morning. It was noted that the individual thermostats were showing different days ! There was no bucket or boot tray (important for walkers), we did take our boots off outside the building but there was nowhere to put them inside the apartment - we bought a boot tray. We noted that the tin opener was on its last legs. Please note that none of the above is meant to be a complaint, we loved the apartment and its location and really enjoyed our stay and would like to come again. Thank you.

It has been one of the very few places where I havenât had to clean myself before starting my holiday and the owners and cleaners should commended on that. Very high standard of furnishings and very well equipped. Clean fridge, washer and dishwasher always a bonus. Really nice touch with the biscuits, milk, tea etc as a starter. Overall a great place and no complaints will definitely return and recommend. Thank you.
