Guests say

South Villa in Whitby offers stunning sea views and is praised for its excellent location, with easy access to local eateries and the beach. Guests appreciate the well-equipped home, thoughtful touches like complimentary items, and the property's cleanliness. However, some guests note the need for maintenance and more comfortable bedding to enhance the overall experience.

The property is described as spotlessly clean internally, with particular attention to cleanliness inside the home. However, the windows were noted to be filthy, which detracts slightly from the overall impression.

The location is highly praised for its beautiful sea views, proximity to the beach, and local amenities. It is considered perfect for both relaxation and adventure.

While the mattresses are described as comfortable, there are comments about small and uncomfortable double beds. The lack of cosy lighting in the lounge and a cold top floor bedroom also affect the comfort level.

Guests mention the need for more cooking tools and baking trays, and there are recurring issues with maintenance such as peeling paint and a non-functional log burner. These issues suggest that the facilities could be improved.

The provision of complimentary items like nespresso pods, prosecco, and Yorkshire teabags is well-received, indicating thoughtfulness. However, it should be noted that such gifts may not always be provided and are a bonus when available.

Beautiful spacious building but a bit frayed round the edges with the interior in desperate need of some paintwork and repairs ie peeling and chipped paintwork, loose trim around hearth, front door really difficult to lock/unlock (including external safe key box) etc. Cooking tools require replenishing ie No baking trays, casserole dishes etc. Lounge would benefit from a couple of floor/table lamps as bright ceiling lights were the only option, detracting from any cosiness. Windows were filthy, looked as if they hadn't been cleaned for weeks! Internally it was spotlessly clean however. Comfortable mattresses but double bed very small and seemed to slope at both sides. We requested for the 2 single beds in one of the bedrooms to be made up into a double but this did not happen (despite being advertised as an option). Great location with a fabulous seaview if windows were cleaned regularly.

This is our second stay in this property. Excellent location and beautiful views of the sea and you can see the sun rise if awake early enough. The home is well equipped and it was lovely that the owners left nespresso pods, prosecco, and plenty of proper Yorkshire teabags. Also the basics for dishwasher including tablets and dish cloths / washing up liquid. There is no parking but you can park outside to unload. Within walking distance are fish cottage, the Hart inn and Mary’s - all excellent for a bite to eat. A walk to kettleness beach a must for the adventurous. Would stay again ;)
