Electric central heating, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Highchair.. Balcony. Private underground parking for 1 car; additional on-road parking. No smoking.. This second floor apartment has the benefit of its own underground car parking space, it has a welcoming feel and is comfortably furnished with an open plan living area, making it a great place to share with family and friends on holiday. The apartment is set over two floors, with the living and dining area at the front with glass doors opening onto the balcony where you can enjoy views over the town to the abbey. The separate kitchen is large and has everything you could wish for when creating freshly cooked meals. The first double bedroom is also on this floor as well as a toilet for added convenience. There is a second double bedroom upstairs complete with an en-suite shower and wonderful views over the neighbouring roofs over to the harbour. A twin bedroom lies beneath velux windows. The family bathroom is on this level, with a hand held shower over the bath.
Whitby Abbey and the red rooftops of the old town make a pretty backdrop. As you amble through the heart of this quaint seaside town, with its cobbled streets, atmospheric harbour and myriad of shops, boutiques, restaurants and cafés, you will be spoilt for things to do. Sample the famous Whitby fish and chips and work them off with an exhilarating cliff-top walk. Whitby has so much to offer, no wonder it is a year round destination for holidaymakers. There is always something happening from the bi-annual Goth Festival to the Whitby Regatta, and their music festivals to the festival of Christmas.
With 3 miles of unspoilt beach, this is a fantastic location to get out and explore the natural beauty of the North Yorkshire Moors and The Yorkshire Heritage Coast. Take a pleasure boat out to sea or a tour bus around the famous sights. Hop on-board the steam train that travels right into the heart of the Yorkshire Moors National Park from Whitby to Goathland famously known as ‘Aidensfield’ in the TV show ‘Heartbeat’. For the outdoor enthusiast, Whitby forms part of the Cleveland Way Walk, a 110 mile walk which comes down the coast through Whitby, finishing at Filey, passing through quaint fishing villages and along rugged coastlines. With stunning scenery and a wonderful coastline, this spacious apartment provides a great base from which to explore Yorkshire’s many attractions. Beach 1 mile. Shop, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

We stayed here over October half term and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The accommodation was just gorgeous, so homely and in the perfect location being just a short walk into town. My children loved the upstairs room and were so happy with the fantastic views of the harbour and Whitby Abbey. The accommodation was comfortable and warm- there were added extras such as books and a range of games to help keep the children entertained. Beds comfortable and fantastic shower in the ensuite. 100 percent value for money and would book again no hesitation. Thanks to The Retreat for making beautiful memories for my little family over the school break.

A very well equipped flat, very spacious and light. Nice and quiet considering it's a top floor flat. Lovely rooftop views and very warm too!The parking space was very much appreciated.It's slightly away from the main areas just behind the train station so wouldn't suit anyone who isn't up to walking far.Improvements could be made. We found the mattress on the top floor where we slept to feel more like a hammock! This really needs renewing. Also the carpet is heavily stained and lets down the overall appearance of the property on entering. But efforts have clearly been made to keep it clean and tidy.

We stayed at the Retreat 6-10th August, excellent location, facilities and cleanliness were spot on, the bonus was the garage parking! The only criticism was the rubber hose to fit on the bath taps . A combination tap and shower head would be a better addition on the bath , but will look forward to booking the Retreat again 🙂
