Guests say

Belfrey House is a characterful and quirky cottage praised for its exceptional central location in York, ideal for exploring the city. Guests appreciate its historical charm, proximity to attractions, and the welcoming touch of a basket of goodies upon arrival. While some guests mention the need for TLC and a thorough clean, the unique experience and convenience overshadow these concerns.

Guests have had mixed experiences with cleanliness. Some found the property clean and comfortable, while others noted issues with pests and a need for a more thorough cleaning. The variance in experiences suggests that cleanliness is generally satisfactory but with room for improvement.

The location is consistently lauded as superb, right in the heart of York, with easy access to the Minster, shops, and restaurants. It's considered perfect for exploring the city, contributing to a high score in this category.

The property's comfort is appreciated, with its cosy atmosphere and historical features. However, some guests found the uneven stairs and floors challenging, and the noise from the street and church bells was noted. Overall, the property provides a comfortable stay with some considerations for its period features.

Facilities are generally well-received, with a well-equipped kitchen and nice touches like a welcome basket. However, guests have mentioned broken appliances and a lack of WiFi, indicating that some aspects of the property could benefit from maintenance and updates.

The provision of a welcome basket was mentioned positively by several guests, indicating a level of thoughtfulness from the hosts. However, as not all reviews mention this, and to ensure expectations are managed, it's noted that such gestures, while appreciated, are not guaranteed.

Right in the heart of the city near the shambles everything on the doorstep shops, pubs and restaurants etc. lovely stay here.No acsess for wheelchair and lots of steep stairs and sloping floors, so I wouldn't recommend for any one with a disability. We went as a party of 8 and really enjoyed our stay at new year. A hundred yards from York minster which was fabulous at new years eve.Lovely people who run belfry house. They have the shop next door so always on hand if you need anything.

Warm, comfortable, historic accommodation in a top location right next to the Minster. Beautifully decorated for Christmas. Cooked a Christmas dinner for 6+. Kitchen well equipped with air fryer etc. but short on crockery and scales and hob light and extractor broken. Lack of facilities for recycling was a disappointment.
