The peaceful Dalbeattie Woods back on to the cottage with pleasant walks for all abilities including a pleasant walk round Plantain Loch; for those looking for a buzz there are the Forestry Commissions 7Stanes mountain bike routes. The other 7stanes trails are easily accessible from Dalbeattie.
Springfield is well positioned for exploring the adjoining area and the popular beach at Sandyhills is only about a five and a half mile drive, as are the popular seaside villages of Kippford and Rockcliffe providing easy access to the Solway Coast walks and also water sport facilities. The area is a mecca for those looking for outdoor pursuits with numerous golf courses including an eighteen hole links championship course at Southerness and local riding stables offer hacks and schooling. Peaceful and attractive fishing spots can be found on the Solway Coast, together with the rivers and lochs in the area which make it a wonderful place to visit and enjoy.
Scotland's heritage can be explored and enjoyed with the historic towns of Dumfries and Kirkcudbright both within easy reach and also the renowned sites such as Sweetheart Abbey at New Abbey and historic castles including Threave Castle at Castle Douglas; ring the bell to call the ferryman to carry you across the river to the castle. Another enjoyable stay at Springfield. A proper home from home with spacious accomodation, a well equipped kitchen, secure garden for our dog and easy access to the nearby woods.

Springfield is situated in an ideal peaceful location but within a short walk of the town. The bungalow is well equipped and well kept. A real home from home where you can just relax. The patio doors open out onto a lovely private garden with a patio to sit out and enjoy the sunshine. Watching the birds on the feeders as you enjoy meals in the dinning room is a real delight. The owners are very helpful if you need to contact them for anything.
