The other trails at Mabie and Ae Forests are also easily accessible from Dalbeattie. The Solway coast is wonderful to explore with craggy cliff walks and excellent beaches such as Sandyhills. The popular seaside villages of Kippford and Rockcliffe a short drive away also provide easy access to the Solway Coast walks and water sport facilities.

The area is a magnet for those looking for outdoor pursuits with numerous golf courses including an eighteen hole links championship course at Southerness and local riding stables offer hacks and schooling. With the Solway Coast, rivers and lochs in the area there are plentiful opportunities for fishing.
