Uplands is a beautiful, detached cottage set quietly on the fringes of the town and ideally placed for a wander into the centre with its many cafés, restaurants and shops, and also ideally placed to explore the wider area by car. Uplands has undergone a complete refurbishment in 2020 and is beautifully decorated throughout. The open plan living space is the hub of the cottage and is a very sociable space to sit and relax over a glass of wine or a meal. For those of a competitive nature, the garden also includes a giant chess game! The large wood burner is the focal point of this lovely space and perfect for those chillier evenings.
The area surrounding Uplands is a joy to discover. There are various and varied walks available, from scenic coastal walks to marked forest trails. For the biking enthusiasts you have the world class Dalbeattie 7Stanes mountain trail on your doorstep, as well as Mabie Forest. It is a popular location for mountain bikers of all levels. With sailing, swimming, riding, fishing, golf, boat trips and water sports close by, there is sure to be something for everyone. Warmed by the Gulf Stream, there are many beautiful gardens to visit, including Threave Gardens (National Trust), historical sites and castles to explore. Discover the Solway Coast with its extensive sandy beaches, rocky coves, traditional fishing villages and harbour ports such as Kippford and Rockcliffe. Shop, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

Would thoroughly recommend staying at Uplands , lovely well maintained accommodation, very well equipped kitchen , everything required has been thought of. So nice to have the extras of tin foil, cling film etc, makes such a difference. Didn't use the washing machine or dishwasher but pods also left for them too. A nice welcome message left by the hosts along with some bubbly, milk & shortbread ( teabags etc were there too) . Good communication before & after from the host. The cottage is in a quiet location , on an elevated position, all you can hear are birds chirping. Although we are very familiar with the area we found the area map on the wall extremely useful for planning trips out. ( it looks nice too )

Overall enjoyed our stay Dalbeattie fairly quiet no cafes but garden centre cafe very good don’t rely on bus timetables on bus stops otherwise a most enjoyable holiday
