Just like the area very much, its a great village to stay, nice and quiet, walks on the shore and the wildlife and waders that come to visit the estuary, not forgetting the Barnacle geese over wintering in the area.

I have stayed in Coastguard's Cottage many times over the past twelve years.I go in winter to watch the overwintering wildfowl and the wildlife never disappoints in Carsethorn and nearby RSPB Mersehead reserve. This is a magical spot and the cottage is spotless, tastefully furnished and decorated and perfectly suits mine and my friends needs. It's very kind of the owners to greet guests with wine and shortbread and they have always been very helpful. I would just say that as I travel by public transport I am unable to bring extra bedding to keep warm in winter but for car users I'd recommend an extra blanket. The Steamboat Inn is a wonderful place for a drink or a meal and just next door!If you want peace, beauty and the sounds of nature, it's hard to beat.
