The cabin lies just outside Gatehouse of Fleet (1.5 miles), a delightful town with a choice of pubs, restaurants and cafes, which is also home to the fascinating visitor centre in the historic Mill on the Fleet. The immediate area has some lovely walks, with Cally Woods less than a mile away. Heading south-east, Kirkcudbright (8 miles) is known as the artists’ town, with a range of events throughout the year, or you can head north-east to Castle Douglas (13.5 miles), a bustling 18th-century market town which is now a designated Food Town with a wealth of local produce. To the north, the majestic Galloway Forest Park (15 miles) offers outdoor pursuits and miles of biking and walking trails.
