Machermore Cottage is a delightful and typical Galloway cottage set in the most stunning location, with breathtaking views over open farmland to Luce Bay in the distance. Renovated in 2021, Machermore Cottage is spacious and beautifully furnished throughout. The open plan kitchen/dining is the perfect spot to enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner and the lounge offers those amazing views from the large picture window. The garden at Machermore also takes full advantage of the views and you can sit and relax watching the sun set over the bay. Machermore Cottage is set on a section of “The Whithorn Way”, a mapped 143-mile walking and cycling route so the ideal location for walkers or cyclists.
This area of Dumfries and Galloway boasts rugged coastlines and secluded sandy beaches which benefit from the warmth of the passing Gulf Stream and is surrounded by breath taking scenery, offering an ideal base from which to explore the area. There are many attractions within easy reach of Machermore Cottage including beautiful gardens, such as the world famous Logan Botanic Garden, golfing, fishing and of course a trip to this area would not be complete without a visit to Scotland’s most southerly point and the rspb Nature Reserve where thousands of seabirds nest in the cliff face during the spring and summer.

Machemore Cottage is a well equipped and comfortable property with breathtaking views across Luce Bay to the Mull of Galloway. We found it to be an ideal base for touring around the attractions of Dumfries and Galloway, and beyond by virtue of the nearby ferry links to Northern Ireland. Highly recommended.

The cottage is immaculate and everything you would need is provided. The only problem we had was with the internet which was not a secure connection. If you want peace and quiet with outstanding views this is for you. Nearest shop is Glenluce about 3 miles away, Newton Stewart is about 10 miles away with supermarkets and a high street.

If you want solitude and peace and quiet Machermore Cottage may be just right. Great views over farm land to the sea. Well equipped very clean cottage which is decorated to a very good standard. Great dark skies if stargazing is your thing.
