A charming house with all the comforts of home. We had a cracking time, our third visit, in a nice town. The house is well situated for the many beautiful places to visit and explore. I can particularly recommend the drive to Wigtown for fish & chips..

We spent 5 nights at Culpee House. The pictures on line are somewhat flattering as the property is "tired" and needs money spent on it to bring it up to the standard we expected for the money charged. The house is roomy and the kitchen/dining area adequate. However the oven and baking trays had unfortunately been left in a greasy and unclean state - probably by previous guests. We slept in the en suite bedroom - which for some reason has 5 large armchairs in which made it cramped alongside the large furniture. The en suite bathroom really needs a total up-date instead of just the modern shower unit fitted in the corner. It was dark and cold in that room as the only heating is a towel rail.We sat in the sitting area next to the kitchen where the dining table is. The other main sitting room across the hall is dark in the evening as only a few little side lamps. All in all, it is furnished in an old fashioned way and the sofas and chairs have seen better days and lost their comfort. The garden is lovely and because the weather was warm and sunny we enjoyed sitting by the large pond.

Brilliant location, with fully enclosed garden, so you don't have to worry about dogs or children getting out.
