Located near the charming harbour village of Port William on the shores of Luce Bay, this welcoming holiday cottage combines traditional character with modern comfort, making it the perfect base for exploring the stunning Machars Peninsula.
Inside, the bothy offers a warm and inviting open-plan living space with a handmade oak staircase designed for comfort and relaxation. After a day exploring the surrounding coastline and countryside, gather around the cosy seating area and enjoy a quiet evening together. The well-equipped kitchen and dining area make it easy to prepare delicious home-cooked meals, whether it’s a hearty breakfast before a day out or a relaxed supper in the evening.
Upstairs, the accommodation comfortably sleeps four guests. The spacious king-size bedroom provides a restful haven, while the twin room with two single beds is perfect for children, friends, or additional family members. A modern shower room completes the accommodation, ensuring a comfortable and convenient stay. Outside, guests can enjoy the enclosed patio area – an ideal spot for morning coffee, alfresco dining, or simply taking in the peaceful rural surroundings.
There is plenty to see and do nearby. The picturesque village of Port William is just a short drive away, where you can stroll along the harbour, watch fishing boats in Luce Bay, and visit the village’s famous bronze statue known locally as “The Man.” The Machars Peninsula offers beautiful coastal walks, quiet beaches, and abundant wildlife.
Nature lovers will enjoy visiting Monreith Beach, a peaceful stretch of coastline where seals are often spotted basking on the rocks. A trip to the Mull of Galloway, Scotland’s southernmost point, is highly recommended, with dramatic cliffs, a historic lighthouse, and breathtaking views across the sea to Ireland and the Isle of Man. For those interested in history and culture, the nearby town of Whithorn – Scotland’s earliest Christian settlement – is well worth exploring, as are the impressive ruins of Glenluce Abbey. You can also visit Bladnoch Distillery to sample locally produced whisky or nearby Wigtown famous for it’s book stores.

We had a fabulous stay in Bothy 2. The accommodation has been finished to a really high standard and it’s well equipped to enable self catering (the only improvements would be a full oven rather than a microwave oven and the inclusion of a washing machine). John and Lulu are brilliant hosts and welcomed us into the accommodation. We really appreciated the extra touches like the log burner being stocked ready to use, some milk in the fridge and even homemade cake! The fact they let you wander round the farm to see the cows, sheep and chickens was very nice of them.The setting of Bothy 2 is peaceful and we loved waking up to views of the green hills and animals each morning. All amenities will need to be accessed by car, but there is plenty to see on the peninsular for those who want to explore more.We would happily return to Bothy 2 in the future!

Landberrick Bothy no 2 is a lovely rural Bothy for 4 people that is immaculate with wonderful views across the farm and open countryside. The open plan living area is cosy and comfortable. The bathroom with large shower is spacious and immaculate. An outside decking area with seating is a peaceful area to relax and enjoy the views. Communication with John prior to our arrival was excellent with support on location and dining choices in the local area. John and Lulu are friendly hosts and welcome you at their farm. A perfect Bothy to spend with family. We would be happy to return in the future. Thank you John and Lulu.

We had an excellent time. The bothy is beautifully presented and well equipped. The local area is attractive and has various interesting walks and nice beaches. The owners are brilliant hosts and it's really interesting being on a working farm.
