An excellent place to spend a really quiet and relaxing time . A lovely area to walk - along the shore, the arboretum and wilder woodland from the doorstep. Hares , deer and birdlife all around. Further away(but not too far!) Garlieston and Wigtown are well worth a visit . Otherwise it is an easy drive to the local forests and coastal villages.

We loved shore cottage! Our rescue staffy Buster, who isn’t good with other dogs, loved the beach being on our doorstep. It was like our own personal space, he was able to run along the beach several times a day without being on a lead as it was so secluded. We enjoyed it so much that we have already booked for next year. Just a wee thing. It would have helped if we had been told the key box was in the outhouse.

Beautifully located comfortable and well equipped cottage in the Galloway House grounds. The rambling gardens on the door step and the quiet bay 50 yds from the house are stunning. Quiet and full of birdsong and nature. Lovely walks from the cottage and lots to explore further afield. Whithorn, Isle of Whithorn and Port Patrick well worth a visit. Further afield Dumfries and Kirkcudbright interesting little towns. Wigtown and Newton Stewart good for supplies and of course Wigtown bookshops and antiquities. We loved it here and will definitely return.
