The centre of Newtown Stewart is half a mile away, along with a selection of shops and pubs, a museum, leisure centre and park, while the river Cree runs through the centre, offering pretty riverside walks, and across the other side of the water is a fantastic golf club. Explore the parkland and woodland of the Galloway Forest Park, where you can enjoy scenic hiking and cycling trails, fishing and you may even see deer roaming, while the rolling countryside of the Machars also offers wonderful and scenic walking opportunities. Head to the former royal burgh of Wigtown, Scotland's national book town, home to an annual book festival, as well as a golf club, castle and Wigtown Bird Hide nature reserve, while the coast at Castle Douglas and the sandy beach of Dalavan are closest to the cottage, around a 15-mile drive away. The Coach House is an idyllic base for a couple's retreat to this picturesque part of Scotland. EPC Rating: Band E

The market town of Newton Stewart, famous for its salmon and trout fishing, lies between serene rolling countryside of the Machars and the Galloway Forest Park. The area is steeped in history; the first Christian church in Scotland was founded in AD 397 in Whithorn. The beautiful coastline is a mixture of sandy beaches and rocky shores teeming with birdlife, whilst inland there is superb walking country to be discovered in the Galloway Hills and Forest Park.

It is the most relaxing, beautiful place to stay. It’s warm, spotless and has everything you need for a lovely holiday. Plenty of walks on the doorstep as well as all the shops you need for a self catering break. The bed was so comfortable, we slept in late most days & the bathroom is a joy with a huge tub and great walk in shower, my personal favourite spot was the window seat in the bedroom for peaceful reading. Lovely welcome gifts were left including fresh flowers which was a lovely welcoming touch. We are already planning a return visit for next year!
