Hammy’s Cottage is a charming, cosy and comfortable cottage situated in the small coastal village of Drummore, Scotland’s most southerly village, and a real magnet for visitors. Hammy’s Cottage is delightfully decorated throughout, boasting lovely furnishings and décor. The spacious living room, with its cosy wood burning stove, is perfect for those chillier evenings, but is also a delight in the summer, as the door opens directly onto a very sunny and private courtyard. Upstairs there are two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other a twin room with pull out bed for additional sleeping.Hammy’s Cottage is a short stroll from the beach and stunning views across Luce Bay, where you can enjoy a lazy day doing nothing!
The area surrounding Drummore, the Rhins of Galloway, boasts idyllic scenery and amazing seascapes, rugged coastlines and secluded sandy beaches which benefit from the warmth of the passing Gulf Stream. There are many beautiful gardens to explore, including the world renowned Logan Botanical Gardens. The area boasts many other pretty little ports like Sandhead, Portpatrick. A trip not to be missed is a visit to rspb Scotland Mull of Galloway nature reserve, where thousands of seabirds nest in the cliff face during the spring and summer. Harbour porpoises, dolphins, seals, otters and minke whales can also be spotted. The area is ideal for walkers with a number of spectacular coastal and clifftop paths to explore and for the more adventurous the world renowned 7stanes mountain bike trails are close by. Pub 1 mile, beach 100 yards.

Whilst this cottage was in a good location and well equipped it fails miserably on the ground floor, the upstairs was acceptable. General cleaning was poor, the kerb appeal on arrival with a dirty front door and on entry a really pungent dank smell to the lounge and kitchen which we assume is caused by the very large Industrial / Commercial type black carpet tiles that are badly fitted , stained and fraying, this smell hits you as you come down the stairs...........A lot of money and attention has been made to the interior nautical style fittings and decor which is very good but surely a decent clean carpet is a priority.........hard flooring in the kitchen and entry would be sensible particularly with animals and in the lounge with rugs etc.We don't have a pristine house and are not being over critical but basic cleanliness is the bare minimum requirement in a holiday cottage for us.The courtyard whilst being a lovely sun trap is not inviting to sit out and relax and needs some screening of the bins etc and better cleaning of the yard area........I have never left bad reviews in the past but feel that something has to be said, and wonder where the agencys get there ratings from....................We still enjoyed our holiday but it was tainted by mainly the awful smell downstairs......however if the cottage had some new floor coverings and generally a bit better cleaning then we would recommend as a rental.

The area is stunning for scenery and wildlife. There is a lovely little shop in the village, but for most items Stranraer is the place, about 30 mins away. The pub in the village, the Ship is great for food and they do have entertainment evenings. Hammys cottage is ideally located and is a comfortable base to enjoy the wonderful area.
