Lovely, cosy cottage in a quiet little village surrounded by glorious countryside. Cottage was furnished to a really high standard, log burner was great, host was very welcoming and attentive. A great stay - thank you!

Lovely cottage, comfortable, clean and cosy. Well equipped. Christine and Sue were very friendly and helpful. Fabulous Location in wee village surrounded by rivers and hills. Loads of great walks and interesting places to drive to. Local amenities were a bit sparse- both cafe and Italian restaurant were shut when we visited but for a wee village the local shop was fine and Thornhill had more pubs and a Co-Op. Cafe in Penpont is highly recommended.

We're just back from a thoroughly enjoyable week at Darroch Cottage. It's spotlessly clean, well equipped, nicely furnished and has everything we look for in a holiday rental. The owner has thought of everything - from the lovely welcome pack of Scottish treats, to proper recycling bins, starter logs for the fire, emergency torches, eco friendly cleaning supplies, and there's even an air fryer oven. The beds are very comfortable and made up with good quality bedding. This cottage hasn't been filled from IKEA like some places we have stayed, so it's very warm and welcoming. There was a maintenance issue with the washing machine on the morning e arrived, , but the owner had already dealt with it and figured out a workaround. We can't help when things go wrong, it's how it's dealt with that shows how serious Christine is about looking after her guests. We did the short self-guided tours of Moniaive village - lots of little bits of history going back hundreds of years. We had a lovely couple of drinks in the sunshine in the beer garden of the village pub/cafe. We went back a different day for some homemade scones. Very friendly locals, everyone says hello.Parking is barely a minute walk away if your car is chunky like ours and won't quite fit in front of Darroch cottage - parking spaces are much treasured in this little street, so don't go parking in front of the neighbours' houses, not even for unloading. :-)We loved Moniaive, and hope to return again soon to this delightful cottage.
