St Andrews cottage in Pittenweem is highly praised for its charming decor, stunning harbour views, and proximity to local amenities. Guests enjoy the comfortable accommodation, the thoughtful welcome pack, and the easy access to walks and nearby villages. While some maintenance issues are noted, the overall experience is positive, with many guests eager to return.
The cottage is consistently described as clean and well-presented, with only one review mentioning a courtyard that was not as tidy as expected. The high level of cleanliness contributes to the overall positive experience.
The location is universally acclaimed for its outstanding views and proximity to local attractions, shops, and eateries. Its central position in Pittenweem and the ease of exploring the Fife coast are highly valued by guests.
Guests find the beds comfortable and the living spaces cosy and warm. However, some reviews mention issues with toilet seats and fluctuating water temperatures, slightly affecting the comfort score.
While the cottage is well-equipped and guests are generally satisfied, there are several mentions of maintenance issues such as electrical problems, broken shutters, and inaccurate website photos of the courtyard. These issues suggest room for improvement in facilities and maintenance.
The host's thoughtfulness is appreciated, particularly the welcome pack of wine and coffee. However, as gifts are not guaranteed for every stay, this score reflects the positive mentions without setting an expectation of receiving gifts.

The location of this lovely cottage is sublime. A quintessential fisherman’s cottage, the property has been restored to provide luxury, contemporary and tastefully furnished, self-catering accommodation yet still maintaining some of the character within a unique setting. There has been a fisherman’s cottage on this location since the 16th-century and the original building fell into disrepair and was demolished in 1908 and not rebuilt until 1918 after the Great War. The family who built the new fisherman’s cottage were from St Andrews, hence the name. The old hooks where the fishing nets were hung to dry are still on the wall in the back garden, which is now a sunny courtyard and ideal for enjoying the summer sun with a glass of wine. The old wash house still has the old sink and is great for cleaning sports equipment or rinsing the sand off your buckets and spades. Within the cottage you will find it is beautifully presented with much thought, care and attention to the finer details. Both spacious double bedrooms are en-suite, and on the ground floor there is also a large storage cupboard to store your golf equipment. The open plan living space on the first floor captures the amazing sea views to enable guests to enjoy watching the fishing boats entering and leaving the picturesque harbour, and the fish market in the morning where the local fishermen sell their catch. If fish is on your menu you can purchase freshly caught fish and prepare that special meal in the well-equipped kitchen.
From your front door you can walk to the local inn, fish and chip shop, restaurants, chocolate shop and café, local bakers shop and an interesting array of artist galleries. Explore the quaint lanes and wynds of this historic fishing village and find St Fillan’s cave in Cove Wynd, which was used as a chapel by St Fillan in the 700s. Pittenweem Arts Festival held at the beginning of August is a very popular event. The Fife Coastal Path passes through the village and is ideal for exploring the coast on foot to picturesque fishing villages and beautiful sandy beaches and coves. This area is famous for golf and St Andrews with its championship courses is within 10 miles, as are more than twenty other local courses so you will be spoilt for choice. With historic buildings, whisky distillery, museums and visitor attractions and boat trips to the Isle of May to see the wild birds, St Andrews in Pittenweem is the perfect location for all ages to explore this area of Fife. Edinburgh 45 miles. Perth 40 miles. Dundee 23 miles. Beach 120 yards. Shop 300 yards, pub 50 yards, restaurant 10 yards.

We are just back from a lovely week spent at St Andrews cottage in Pittenweem. The accommodation was exactly as described, we loved the layout and how the cottage had been decorated. It is right on the harbour and you can watch the fishing boats going in and out of the harbour as well as the seals playing about. There are lots of walks nearby and shops and pub are all within walking distance. It is also close to St Monans, Anstruther and Crail which we visited. We were going to go to St Fillans cave but ran out of time which just means we will have to rebook. The host kept us informed of all the information we needed and kindly left us a welcome pack of wine and coffee. We would definitely recommend St Andrews to our family and friends.

This is a gem of a holiday cottage. Beautifully presented and with lovely views across the harbour, it provides a comfortable, very well equipped bolthole in the lovely East Neuk of Fife. The cottage is light and warm, with comfortable beds, tastefully decorated and with everything you could want for your stay. Pittenweem is delightful and friendly and the cottage is located near a stylish bistro and art gallery called The Dory. There are local shops and eateries and the coastal path passes the front door. Beautiful walks up and down the coast provide more interest and pretty harbour villages where you can see fishing boats bring in their catches from the firth. We had a great week in Pittenweem and found the host to be extremely approachable and helpful. We will be returning.
