Tigh an Iasgair sleeping up to 6 guests

Discover the Applecross Peninsula from this stunning holiday property. Enjoy walks, cycling and climbing or just enjoy the scenery.

Nestled into the hillside, in a sheltered and secluded position, and enjoying some of the most spectacular views imaginable, S25860 is a superb, detached, architect-designed house situated on the Applecross Peninsula. This stunning, warm and light-filled property is beautifully presented throughout, with great attention to detail. The main living area is open plan. With high vaulted ceilings and large patio doors it is exceptionally light and spacious. A large multi-fuel stove acts a focal point. The patio doors open onto a paved patio, a wonderful spot to sit and drink in the views of sea, mountains and open countryside. The grounds lead down to the sea shore below. There is a beautiful sheltered beach 4 minutes away at the end of Fearnbeg village.

There are three large bedrooms, all superbly presented. S25860, Gaelic for The Fisherman’s House, is completely eco-friendly, with a ground source heat pump supplying the underfloor heating throughout. Applecross Peninsula is renowned for its wild, rugged and unspoilt beauty. Until the building of this coastal road from Shieldaig, Applecross was one of the most inaccessible parishes in mainland Britain, with the only route being the very scenic but hair-raising ‘Pass of the Cattle’, or Bealach na Ba. Rising up to 2053ft, it is the highest road in Scotland and affords truly panoramic views across the Minch to Raasay and the Isle of Skye. The other route gently winds along the coast round Loch Torridon from Shieldaig.

This is a fantastic area for hill walking, climbing in the Torridon Hills, kayaking around the coast and cycling the quiet lanes with amazing views around almost every corner. The surrounding region is a delight for nature lovers and the area is home to pine martens, wildcats, badgers and otters as well as buzzards and golden eagles. Shop, pub and restaurant 7 miles.
Large living/dining room with multi-fuel stove, vaulted ceiling and patio doors, open to large kitchen area with wooden floors. Sitting room with double sofa bed (for alternative sleeping only). Utility. Double bedroom. Shower room with toilet. First floor: Double bedroom with 5ft bed. Twin bedroom. Bathroom with separate shower cubicle and toilet.

    Bridget – 28 Oct 2018
"We stayed here for a week at October half term and were delighted with the cottage. Scrupulously clean and well - equipped, the cottage really did provide a luxurious break from our busy lives. The views are stunning and there is an abundance of wildlife. The cottage was warm and welcoming and provided the perfect base for our holiday. Would love to return."
    RAY – 19 Oct 2018
"No TV reception This should be made clear on booking otherwise excellent cottage."
    Gregory – 16 Sep 2018
"Fantastic house in a beautiful location. No day was the same weatherwise and if you love wildlife, photography, bird watching, walking and stunning scenery then this is the place to stay. The only ‘drawback’ if you can call it that is that nearest store is about 30 minute drive away so if you do a big shop before you go then you will have the perfect stay."
    Mark – 25 Aug 2018
"Had a memorable visit in this beautiful house."
    Jay – 26 Jul 2018
"House designed to capture maximum views of this remote area."
    Kevin – 22 Apr 2018
"Lovely house in a beautiful location. We knew it was remote but it did take a long time to do little mileage."
    Stuart – 14 Apr 2018
    "Absolutely superb in every respect"
    Julia – 17 Mar 2018
"We had the most wonderful, relaxing stay here, such a peaceful, unspoilt location - a perfect escape. Cottage was comfortable, impeccably clean and well equipped with books, games and DVDs. We were lucky with the weather - managed to get out on good long walks in the stunning countryside every day, and even climbed a Munro in the snow! Dinner at the Applecross Inn afterwards was a lovely treat, and sunset at the nearby coral beach overlooking Skye an experience we will not soon forget. Look out for deer, seals and the friendly local highland cattle, and of course ubiquitous sheep! We will definitely be back."
    Carl – 12 Mar 2018
"Tigh an Lasgair is a superb place to stay if you want complete solitude. There are neighbours but you can't see them from the house. The house is big enough to sleep 6 people very comfortably, with 3 double bedrooms (1 with twin beds) and 2 shower rooms (1 with a bath). Very well equiped. Very warm and cosy with underfloor heating and woodburner, though we found this was not needed even in March. Beautiful views. Some fab beaches nearby. Nearest pub/restaurant/shop about 10 miles away in Sheildaig. The food at the Coastal Kitchen was fab. Applecross Inn about 14 miles. Good seafood there but I wouldn't recommend it for vegetarians. The dish I had was terrible. Make sure you take plenty of basic food with you. If you are a nervous driver I would say be very sure before you book because the roads to the house are not for the faint hearted. The owners were really helpful too."
    Sally – 15 Feb 2018
"Beautiful property, a little bit more remote than we thought but that is our fault for not researching enough. However, amazing scenery, lovely walks, completely relaxing, a stock shop at Inverness is crucial and if you are coming up from Glasgow the butchers at Kingussie is brilliant, not far off the A road, the pine martens are a real entertainment. We both feel wonderfully relaxed"
    Thomas – 20 Jan 2018
"What an amazing place. The cottage is beautiful and in a stunning setting. I cannot wait to revisit."
