  The booking process itself through Sykes was extremely easy, quick and user-friendly.

  A comprehensive confirmation was sent to us including several details from the owners. Details of location, parking and key pickups was also provided making the arrival at the cottage very straightforward. The cottage itself was immaculate and the welcome basket was indeed very welcoming! It even included treats for our dogs! Beds were comfortable and warm with lots of wardrobe and drawer space if required. Kitchen and bathroom were both spotless and had plenty of storage. Our only niggle was the shower. The pressure was very poor and we both had to use it as a hand spray. The temperature was good though and I don’t know if perhaps we didn’t use it properly. Would suggest perhaps that it is checked out anyway. I have chosen not to mark the cottage down because of the shower though because in every other way it was perfect and I highly recommend.   This is a lovely modern cottage.

  The furniture is modern with clean lines and has been thoughtfully decorated. However , is only big enough for 2 even though it states in the description that it’s big enough for 4. The bed was a bit uncomfortable, this could really do with replacing. The description is a bit misleading- the cottage is very close to the sea, but you are not able to walk on the beach because it is mainly rocks. However, a 10 minute walk brings you to a sandy/rocky beach you can walk on. I you can easily get to other areas by car. We went to Loch Ness but unfortunately didn’t see Nessy. Although parking is on a first come first served basis, we didn’t have any problems finding a space. It is on a narrow street, and you do tend to bump into the neighbours as you are coming and going, but they are very friendly (and love dogs). The welcome hamper was lovely, and appreciated by both humans and dogs ❤️

  The cottage was clean and the beds comfortable.

  However the living area lights didn't work as the light bulbs were defunct so we had to change one or two around. There was a good range of crockery but the selection of pans was poor..some without lids and even if only two of you are staying then take a decent larger pan or two with you. The small freezer compartment inside the main body of the fridge was heavily iced up and excess water from the ice dripped onto food stored below. The freezer compartment contained a previous visitor's pizza. A washing machine is provided but no linen basket or wash stand or other drying facility. It really wouldn't be costly to provide both. On a plus, plenty of dishwasher tablets and cleaning materials are provided. The location isn't as attractive as the description might suggest. The outside area is really rather neglected looking. The directions given are of no use but google maps got us there!

  Very quiet despite it being on a working farm.

  On a couple of mornings we noticed sheep being sheared (it looked very interesting indeed), but only when we opened the window for airing. Once closed, we couldn't hear a thing. Very clean, all the necessary things for cleaning provided in the kitchen cupboard and plenty of towels. The kitchen was well fitted as well. I was happy to find a coffee press! Our host provided a variety of tea and coffee sachets and other add ons, which was very thoughtful. The bed was very comfortable, slept like a baby. The only minor thing that could have been better was the shower pressure, although all the other taps were working perfectly. All in all, a very pleasant stay. We would definitely come back and will recommend to our friends willing to visit this beautiful part of Scotland.

  An absolutely beautiful and fully equipped cottage in Portsoy, a wonderful fishing village east of Elgin.

  The cottage has everything you could wish for and things you didn't even know you needed! Very easy parking on a cul-de-sac, there's only Sally the next door neighbour who parks out there as well. Very easy 1 minute walk to a fab Chinese takeaway, Co-op, pub, bakers and the ice cream parlour! Another 5 minutes further on and you'll be at the harbour. By car, you're near to Banff, Cullen, Elgin, Fraserburgh, Peterhead, Aberdeen, Inverness and all surrounding attractions (Cawdor Castle, Brodie Castle, Fort George etc). I'd really recommend this lovely cottage and it's fantastic location.
