Brae Lodge boasts stunning views of Cullen Bay and is well-placed for local amenities and the coastal path. While guests appreciate the homely touches and perfect location, there are recurring comments about the need for updates to furnishings, bed linen, and general maintenance.
Guests have noted issues with cleanliness, including mouldy bathroom fixtures, dirty corners, and stained pillows, suggesting attention to detail is required.
The location is highly praised for its stunning views and proximity to shops, beach, and coastal paths, making it an ideal setting.
Comfort has been a concern, with guests finding the beds hard and the living room upholstery shabby and uncomfortable.
Facilities and maintenance are areas of disappointment, with reports of broken oven doors, fridge and freezer needing upgrades, and worn-out soft furnishings.
There is no mention of gifts or extra touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the hosts, so this category cannot be scored.
This lovely bungalow sits in an ideal location to enjoy the beauty of the coastline at Cullen, including the resident dolphins!. 1 step to entrance.

The airy, pleasant living room provides magnificent views of the Moray Firth, open the patio doors and you are onto a raised terrace on which to sit and soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the wonderful sunsets. If you are very lucky the local dolphins will provide an acrobatic display. There are two large double bedrooms one with double bed and sea view, the second has twin beds and looks over the enclosed garden.

Explore the dramatic landscapes, from rugged cliffs to sweeping shores, sheltered coves to fishing town harbours. Cycle along the Moray Coast Cycle Trail which runs from Cullen to Burghead. Golf enthusiasts have a lovely links course practically on the doorstep, which has stunning views over the bay.
Be sure to try the local dishes including Cullen skink, a hearty chowder-like fish soup. The clear waters here are the base for a resident colony of bottlenose dolphins, and there are several companies in the vicinity running wildlife cruises, when you could also spot seals, many seabirds and even whales.
Cullen is a wonderful little village, a real treasure trove of cute shops and cafés, and a perfect place to spend some time. Elgin and Inverness can be reached easily for a day out, as well as the famous Whisky and Castle trails. Beach ¼ mile. Shop 120 yards, pub and restaurant 350 yards.

Just returned from our 3rd visit to Brae Lodge. It is a family holiday home which we have the privilege of sharing. The setting is perfect - stunning views of Cullen Bay, and the setting sun, with the shops, beach and coastal path nearby. It is well equipped with homely touches pictures and ornaments. We are pleased to read that the chair and sofa are to be replaced. Unfortunately the curtain hooks have not been replaced or have broken again On the negative we expect a better quality of bed line & towels and the pillows are stained. We are already looking forward to our visit next year

This is our second stay at the cottage. You can't fault it for location, views. We were really looking forward to coming back here. However the thing's that we mentioned last year have not been done at all. The fridge and freezer needs upgrading. The upholstery in the living room is not comfy and pretty shabby now. We took our own pillows with us this year, glad we did..the curtains in the living room are needing new hooks half them are broken. The bathroom also could do with a upgrade. We love the area this cottage is in and would go back again but only if it gets some attention to it. The people who we're staying the week before us have pretty much said all the same things.
