Situated in Boat of Garten within the Cairngorms National Park, this is the perfect holiday home for a relaxing time away or action packed adventure holiday. Boat of Garten is known as the Osprey Village as it is close to the rspb Osprey Centre where you can see these fascinating birds nesting and hunting over the local lochs. For outdoor lovers, this area is simply paradise with the Speyside Way passing close to the cottage and two golf courses just a few minutes’ drive. Aviemore is also very close by and offers a wide choice of outdoor pursuits along with an array of shops restaurants and plenty to do. Ptarmigan cottage is a detached property and a rare find for families or friends seeking a fantastic base in which to explore this part of Scotland, littered with rugged landscapes, an abundance of wildlife and plenty of outdoor attractions.
The cottage is made up of a spacious upstairs lounge with a cosy wood burner, a welll equipped kitchen downstairs with a dining area.There are three bedrooms, two twin rooms downstairs a double bedroom upstairs with en-suite. The wet room and disabled toilet are located downstairs with the main bathroom and toilet upstairs.

Enjoyed our stay here, very comfortable and close enough to some great local amenities if you don’t mind a bit of a walk. Loved watching the birds feeding outside the window in the mornings, including greater spotted woodpeckers. Enjoyed the steam train, the cosy and tasty meal at Anderson’s, the walk around Loch Varr but the first bit on the main road was a bit hairy (though thankfully short!). Some things were looking a bit tired eg the missing shelf in the en suite, the rickety wardrobe in the main bedroom and some of the chairs were unusable. There were also no dish cloths provided. Showers were great and the lobby for coats and shoes was perfect.

In a nice location for plenty of wild life. if your wanting to use the village amenities you will need to use your car or about a twenty minute walk. well equipped but not much storage space in the kitchen. Some of the bath rooms looking tied. a bit specific but its hard to clean up with a vac that's all taped up and as no suction.

Good! Although we struggled to get one car there due to the heavy snow, that was also why we were in the area. The house was beautifully remote and felt really spacious for my family. The only issue was the heating that felt hard to do anything about, despite the caretaker doing her best to try and change things.
