Heron's Rest is a quaint cottage on the Isle of Skye, praised for its peaceful location and stunning views. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, cosy atmosphere, and the enclosed garden, ideal for dogs. The local area offers charming shops and cafes, with nature's beauty on full display.

Reviews indicate a mix of experiences with cleanliness. Some guests found the cottage clean, particularly the kitchen, while others noted the need for a more thorough cleaning, especially the floors.

The location is highly praised for its beauty and tranquillity, offering spectacular views and a serene atmosphere. Its remoteness is seen as a positive aspect, contributing to the peaceful experience.

Guests have mixed feelings about comfort. The bed received several complaints regarding its condition, though some found it adequate. The heating is generally considered good, but the shower's performance and warmth were concerns.

Facilities are deemed sufficient with a well-equipped kitchen and utility room. However, maintenance issues like the broken fridge shelf, sofa cushions, and entertainment systems were noted. The Wi-Fi is inconsistent, and some kitchen utensils require upgrading.

There is no mention of gifts or special thoughtful touches provided by the host in the reviews, so it is not possible to assess this category.

Nice wee cottage, has everything to get you through the holiday. Enough dishes, pots and utensils. There was plenty of cleaning products. The heating system and wifi were great, the Shower was ok but i would advise that the bed needs replacing but not a deal breaker [We did take our own pillows and duvet]. The cottage is off the beaten path but for the money we paid it was still worth it.

The location is absolutely beautiful, with stunning views and a peaceful atmosphere. The cottage itself could have been a bit cleaner, especially the kitchen - I spent some time cleaning after arrival to feel comfortable. The bed wasnt very comfortable, and the place was a little tricky to find after dark. Still, considering the wonderful setting, its good value for money overall.

Fantastic location away from the hoards in their hire cars. Reading previous reviews rest assured the bed is comfortable (just needs a bigger duvet) and there is plenty of hot water for the shower if you press the boost button in the utility room, no it won’t jet your skin off but it’s perfectly acceptable. We always kept the gate shut but it makes no difference, sheep come and go as they please, although we never saw one scale the gate. Minor housekeeping quibbles: please bring your own sharp kitchen knives, there’s only a bread knife. There’s loads of old plastic tubs that need binning, the milk shelf in the fridge is broken and the sofa cushions need replacing. You don’t need the tv or sound system, just turn the sofa round to face the windows and enjoy what you’ve paid for. If the winter is harsh then the gateways are going to need some work, don’t rush in (or out) you’ll damage your wheels/suspension/bumper/wallet. If you hear scratching in the night, it’s not a ghost, just some small furry friends rummaging around. They’re not in the house but the owner would be advised to get them checked out to make sure they’re not causing damage to the property. All in all well worth the money, you’ll be staying in a piece of history, enjoy it.
