Newtonmore includes shops, restaurants, and two award-winning museums overlooking the River Spey in Britain's largest national park, the Cairngorms. Newtonmore's Wildcat Trail is a 7–mile circle walk around the village, taking in the River Spey, woods, moorland, and vistas of the Cairngorms and Monadhliath Mountains - a good start to the National Park. Folk Park, Kincraig Wildlife Park, Landmark at Carrbridge, and Steam Railway are great for kids. The area is perfect for golf, fishing, pony riding, strolling, birdwatching, cycling, mountain biking, climbing, and skiing.
