Portknockie is an appropriate location from which to visit the Moray area. I have not been to that part of Scotland before and am pleased to have visited. Mixed farming and interesting coastal features with little traffic and plenty of available historical background to the places. I was very impressed with the tidiness of the many places visited; no graffiti ( information boards totally visible), or litter! There seems to be a significant social pride in the region, even the towns, and a conscious aim to cater for visitors. Well done local authorities if that is your doing! Dolphin View is well equipped, spacious, well heated and in an almost silent, village. Parking directly by the door in the very quiet road is fine. Some previous comments have considered a few of the fittings 'tired': perhaps so but it is accommodation for short-term occupation and at a sensible price so we can't expect perfect decor. Everything worked, is cared for and clean. If you like seaviews, the rear large room is ideal...count the aerogenerators on the horizon. If returning to the area I would unhesitatingly book Dolphin View. The village has a strange semi-grid road pattern so a plan showing the location of the property would have been appreciated prior to arrival.

Great Holiday, lovely views from living room window, dolphins, deer and beautiful sunsets. Lucky with weather and neighbours as seating area is communal and restricts view. 2 small negatives. Upstairs bedrooms could benefit from blackout blinds as street light right outside property and kitchen although we'll equipped is tired. Would we return, yes but have concern with communal seating area in front of window.
