Holmbyre Smithy is a spacious, detached cottage which is situated close to the town of Dalry, in rural Ayrshire with rolling hills and stunning coastline. In a riverside location, the cottage also boasts its very own private hot tub to relax in after a days exploring.
Ayrshire is home to the Ayrshire Coastal Path, a 100-mile long coastal walk with one of the finest panoramic coastlines in the British Isles. Crowned with a superb backdrop of the ever-changing profile of the mountains of Arran across the Firth of Clyde, this coastline is steeped in history and teeming with wildlife, including red squirrels, deer, otters and seals, and is a haven for bird watchers. Inland there are gardens and castles to visit, riding, racing and a choice of golf courses, with the world famous Turnberry close to hand. Culzean Castle (owned by the National Trust for Scotland) is spectacular and is Ayrshire’s most popular tourist attraction. Ayrshire is the heart of ’Burns’ Country’, steeped in tradition and history, visit Burns’ Cottage, The Burns’ Memorial Museum and the Brig o’ Doon, the bridge from the famous poem Tam o’ Shanter. Day trips to Ireland can be taken from Cairnryan, whilst a short drive leads to Ayr, a traditional seaside town. Glasgow and Edinburgh are easily reached for a day out. We had a fabulous time at holmbyre Smithy. Hey have thought of everything. House is beautiful. Towels for showers. Towels for hot tub. Bathrobes in each room. Comfy beds. Gorgeous log fire. Decking full length of the house beside small river. Welcome pack in the kitchen. Fabulous hot tub. Can’t complain about a thing. Would certainly recommend to anyone. Will be back. Hopefully soon.

Living in a desert in the UAE makes coming to Scotland pretty special. Hombyre Smithy lived up to the mark, immaculately ready the cottage was the break I was hoping for. Billy was a gent and a great host, the family loved our stay and will be back.
