The description on the site and reviews were great; but they don't do it justice. An excellent cottage, bright airy, comfortable and cosy beautiful setting and easy to get around.Beautiful views can't wait to go back. The owners were lovely and friendly but didn't invade your space. Would highly recommend.

Postbox Cottage looked fantastic on the website, but was even more stunning, when we arrived. First of all, there's the view from the cottage over to the Kintyre Peninsula and the Firth of Clyde, and the sunsets, as well as the birdlife. Then, there's the cottage itself - spotlessly clean, well thought-out, architecturally and environmentally, beautifully and tastefully decorated. The friendly cottage owners live next door, unobtrusive and separate, but on hand to help, if needed. We had no problems during our stay, but it was still nice to wave to them and pass the time of day. A lovely and interesting couple, happy to provide invaluable local knowledge. During our stay, we enjoyed a walk from St. Bride's Church, Lochranza to the Fairy Glen, and the fabulous views, the Isle of Arran Distillery, Auchrannie Resort and Spa (book early!), the Machrie Stone Circle, the walk from Blackwaterfoot (go to the bakehouse for glorious bread) to Kilpatrick, the Arran Art Gallery, with some great local talent, and just enjoying the views.Arran is full of very friendly people and Postbox Cottage is a great place in the north west of the island to base yourself. I hesitate to praise the cottage and the island TOO much, otherwise we won't find availability, next time we want to visit. Only joking! Please note that you do need to take everything that you need, food and drink wise, with you, as no food or welcome pack are left in the cottage. This is not a problem at all, if you come prepared. There is a very good Co-op in Brodick, as you get off the ferry, which is open 06.00 - 22.00. And the closest village shop to the cottage is at Pirnmill (open 09.00 - 17.30), which is well stocked. There is also a large Morrisons (+ petrol station) in Troon a couple of minutes away from the ferry terminal. We loved the cottage, the views and the isle of Arran. If you are looking for peace and quiet, and a high standard of accommodation, look no further.
