There is one bathroom with a large basin, WC and an elegant shower with high-quality fixtures and fittings. When the sun shines (it really does sometimes!) enjoy a cup of coffee or a glass of your favourite drink in the rear courtyard. The local town of Biggar is a lovely location for your escape to the Scottish Borders, offering a great selection of pubs, tasty eateries and cafes, as well as a supermarket and convenience stores for your essentials. It has many excellent shops, boasting a home-made ice-cream shop, a well-stocked independent bookshop and a stylish clothes shop. Young ones can enjoy the splendid play-area in the nearby Biggar Burnbraes Park, whilst both gentle and more invigorating walks can be found starting from the property. For the energetic, don't miss a climb up Tinto Hill 6 miles away. Further afield, you will find walks at Clyde Valley Woodlands, Dawyck Botanic Gardens, and Cartland Craigs. For an interesting day out, visit New Lanark. Or for more amenities and attractions head over to the bustling city of Edinburgh where there are many amazing historic sites including Edinburgh Castle, Craigmillar Castle, the Palace of Holyroodhouse and a fantastic museum where you can learn more about the local history and heritage. Or travel to Glasgow where you can visit the world-renowned Burrell Collection and Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum. Explore Scotland with a stay at 6 Kirkstyle.

The town of Biggar on the edge of Scotland’s Southern Uplands is believed to have been inhabited since prehistoric times, and the present A702 is on the line of the former Roman road, linking the fort at Musselburgh with the Clyde Valley. The Normans followed in the 12th century and Biggar Burn was finally bridged, providing the first permanent crossing. The town today, with the market place at its centre, retains the linear layout showing the historical importance of the A702. It has many shops, cafes and bars and is particularly renowned for its collection of museums reflecting the history of notable individuals from the area. Visit the Moat Park Heritage Centre in a disused church for a flavour of Biggar’s history. With both the Southern Upland hills, the Borders town of Peebles and cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh all within easy reach, Biggar has something for everyone.

Fantastic location. Well presented and clean. Comfy beds provided for a good night sleep for all.Great shower too. Beautiful original shutters in bedrooms closed out the starry skies of Biggar at night. Chilled prosecco awaiting our arrival was a lovely touch which was appreciated, as where the biscuits, coffee and tea after a long journey. We loved having the option of the wood burner fire to settle around after a lovely day exploring Biggar and its amazing surrounds. Definitely would return.
