Private parking for 2 cars. No smoking. Please note: No children under 18 years old. . ’Punch Tree Lodge’ is located in a wonderful rural spot in Mauldslie Estate, Carluke. The lovely living areas and an excellent location make it the perfect choice for a getaway or get-together with friends, this charming cabin includes a host of modern comforts, making it an ideal home away from home. As a self-catering cabin, you’ll find everything you need for a perfect stay, the charming and insulated cabin comprises an open-plan kitchenette, seating/lounge and sleeping area with a separate bathroom. This is a perfect place to relax and offers a cosy wood burner and comfortable armchairs for you to put your feet up and unwind. The cabin is an open plan living area with a comfortable double bed with cotton white linen, and is very cosy, allowing for a good night’s sleep. There is a separate shower room, which has a toilet, sink and a shower.
This cabin is insulated, double-glazed with a wood burner. Outdoor amenities include table and chairs, a wooden seat, and a welcoming wood-fired hot tub for two, to bathe underneath the stars and the Redwoods! The private patio has a fire pit to take in the views and listen to the wildlife, we supply blankets for warmth outside!
You may wander through the beautiful gardens and find a quiet and secluded seat under a redwood or firwood tree, or maybe have a picnic on the lawn or BBQ in the woodland area. You can enjoy the area of the beautiful historical setting of the original Maudslie Castle overlooking big trees and woodlands. Situated within the garden the onsite woodland walk comprises redwood sequoia, copper beech, rhododendrons, wild garlic, scarlett elf cup, fir trees and a selection of wildflowers, raspberry and bramble bushes. A peaceful setting, ideally situated for the major cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh.

We had an amazing time at punchtree lodge, the lodge sits on the grounds of what was maudslie castle grounds and 5 acres of land with beautiful trees and the maudslie woods which sits just a 5 minute walk away from the lodge. Maudslie woods has a large trail if you like trails. The grounds of the lodge were immaculate and Joanne the owner welcomes lodge visitors to freely walk around and use the gazebo in the garden which we were able to have dinner in for example.The lodge has a wood fired Swedish hot tub which can take a little time to get fired up but absolutely worth it when it’s ready. Amazing experience in the hot tub at night with the trees surrounding you. The cabin is one of the largest cabins I’ve stayed in, comfortable bed and linen and an open plan kitchen with all the amenities you need to make food. There is no oven but kettle toaster microwave and hob all in good working order. Nice working shower and toilet too. Watch for spiders!Due to being surrounded by trees the cabin can have flies spiders and fragments of bark etc, not a critism but a reality of a cabin in the heart of nature and easily treaded in.Despite feeling remote and away from the hustle and bustle, food can be easily delivered and only a 15 min walk into rose bank for breakfast and lunch if needed, or a 15 min drive into Carluke for more variety of food where we were able to get a Chinese for example.We can’t recommend this lodge or the area enough and have already discussed our desire to return.
