Guests say

Ty Woods Cottage is praised for its stunning location, panoramic views, and proximity to Rhoscolyn beach and a popular local pub. Guests appreciate the peaceful setting, spacious layout, and well-equipped kitchen, making it ideal for relaxing breaks and dog-friendly holidays. While many found the cottage comfortable and welcoming, several reviews mention that the property would benefit from a refresh and deeper cleaning. The owners are described as friendly and helpful, contributing to a positive experience overall.

Cleanliness receives mixed feedback. Some guests found the cottage clean and tidy, while others noted issues such as cobwebs, dust, unpleasant odours, and the need for a deep clean. Several reviews mention long-term neglect in certain areas, though owners responded promptly to complaints.

The location is consistently praised, with guests loving the peaceful setting, beautiful views, and easy access to the beach, coastal walks, and a dog-friendly pub. The cottage's proximity to local amenities and attractions is a highlight for many.

Comfort is generally rated positively, with guests enjoying the spaciousness and cosy atmosphere. However, some found the sofas and beds uncomfortable or dated, and a few mentioned accessibility challenges for those with limited mobility.

Facilities are well regarded, with a well-equipped kitchen, dishwasher, washing machine, and tumble dryer frequently mentioned. Some guests noted minor maintenance issues, such as blown bulbs, tired furnishings, and the need for updated instructions, but overall the amenities met most guests' needs.

Some guests received a warm welcome and occasional gifts such as wine or extra logs, but these are not guaranteed. The owners are described as friendly and responsive, though a few guests noted the absence of a welcome pack or clear instructions.

About this property

This lovely, single-storey detached cottage is situated opposite the owners' home, in the scattered village of Rhoscolyn, on the beautiful Isle of Anglesey. Ideal for families or friends, this cottage is superbly located for access to the beach and coastline, which is just a two minute walk from the cottage, and even closer to the popular country inn visited by guests from miles around. As you step into the hall you will immediately feel relaxed by your surroundings, with a door leading through to the fitted kitchen in front of you, which will provide you with all the requirements needed for a family holiday.

A welcoming sitting room offers views across grassland to the beach and beyond, and comfy sofas with a warming woodburner adds further character and atmosphere to the room, and will have you kicking off your shoes and warming your toes in front of the stove after a paddle in the sea. A small step from the hall takes you down into the dining room, where you can sit and relax with home-cooked food and a fine bottle of wine, enjoying good company long into the evening. Two bedrooms lead off the dining room, a twin bedded room and a master double room with en-suite toilet and sliding glass doors leading onto a small patio and decking area, which is slightly elevated to make the best of the views to the sea, and affords an ideal spot to enjoy a refreshing drink whilst watching the sun go down at the end the day, or dine alfresco using the barbecue.

Rhoscolyn beach is sandy and safe, located in a sheltered shallow bay, ideal for small dinghies and canoes, and will offer hours of enjoyment for children, crabbing or snorkelling around the rocky cliffs. Alternatively, perhaps a stroll along the headland is more your thing, in which case you will be delighted to discover the 125 miles of Anglesey Coastal Path which runs past the beach. Ty Woods Cottage is in an excellent location for a memorable seaside holiday, whatever the time of year.

Located on Holy Island, three miles from Trearddur Bay, Rhoscolyn is a small village with a church and primary school and is the most southerly place on Holy Island. Rhoscolyn also offers an excellent pub on the lane down to the beach, which is renowned for its gastro food, and the beach itself with its slipway, ideal for small dinghies and power boats, is a popular family destination throughout the summer owing to the sheltered cove and gently sloping sands. Also excellent cliff-top walks can be enjoyed and an abundance of wildlife can be seen, often including seals on the headland.

There is no way of contacting Sykes and the owner’s number does not receive incoming callers. Phoning Sykes gets an impossible loop, which says that you will text in the ne t few minutes. Unfortunately, we live in the country with no mobile phone signal and cannot receive texts. What do you suggest we do? Our landline number is 01565872547

It has everything you could possibly need for a relaxing holiday. The views are fantastic and so lovely to start each day. Pub with fabulous food is literally one minute walk from the bungalow and the beach is less than five minutes walk away. It was so good to take our dog to the beach every morning. She also enjoyed pottering about the land surrounding the bungalow. Andy, the owner lives opposite the bungalow and is a lovely guy. So helpful but unobtrusive. I would definitely recommend this property to those that enjoy a quiet relaxing holiday in beautiful countryside and a beautiful beach.
