The detached cottage has been cleverly converted to provide a cute living/dining room with a real wood burner, as well as the option of an electric log-effect fire, a compact kitchen, shower room and upstairs a comfortable kingsize bedroom. The owners have also created a private enclosed patio area, accessed via French doors from the living room; the perfect space for a morning coffee or evening drinks.
The unspoilt beaches, and dolphin and seal watching trips are readily available along the coast of some of the most popular excursions in west Wales. There are many stunning beaches along the shores of Cardigan Bay such as Tresaith, Penbryn, Llangrannog and many others. The Ceredigion Coastal Path offers breathtaking views at every turn. There are wildlife boat trips to islands that are famous for sea birds, dolphins, seals and porpoises. There are activity centres for kayaking, go-carting, windsurfing, paint balling, canoeing, climbing, pony trekking and quad biking. In nearby Llandysul you can try your hand at slalom, freestyle, surf and Canadian canoeing on the River Teifi. There is no age limit and full tuition is available from the Llandysul Paddlers Canoe Centre. This is also an ideal spot for fishing. If outdoor activities are not for you, why not take a trip on a narrow gauge steam railway?
Whilst visiting the coast, you should spend a day following the walking trail in the footsteps of famous Welsh poet, Dylan Thomas, who made his home in New Quay in the 1940s. It’s easy to see why he found this place such an inspiration as you look at the houses clinging to the rocks and the stunning view out across the harbour. The harbour wall is the perfect place to enjoy an ice cream, or fish and chips! Places of interest nearby include the National Botanic Gardens of Wales and the Georgian harbour town of Aberaeron is also well worth a visit. There are colourful houses and an array of independent shops, cafés and restaurants. Look out for events up and down the coast, especially through the summer season.
The market towns of Newcastle Emlyn and Lampeter are within easy reach, and slightly further afield you’ll find the seaside town of Aberystwyth with its pier and promenade, and Tregaron, an old drover’s town at the gateway to the Cambrian Mountains. There are two local leisure centres, in Llandysul and Lampeter, offering use of a swimming pool, fitness suite and a sports hall.
Whether you choose a short break or a longer stay, Red Kite Cottage will be waiting for you when you return from days out exploring. Light the fire, pour a glass of wine and relax! Beach 9½ miles. Shop 1½ miles, pub and restaurant 1 mile.
