This fantastic holiday cottage is situated on a country estate, surrounded by a 140-acre sheep farm and woodlands, with the use of an indoor heated swimming pool and tennis court, overlooking the Afon Ceirw, in the scattered hamlet of Maerdy, between Corwen and Cerrigydrudion, in beautiful North Wales. Enjoying peace and tranquillity, the cottage is an ideal central location to explore the surrounding area, with Bala and its superb lake renowned for its watersports, Betws-y-Coed, known as the gateway to Snowdon, and Llangollen with its impressive steam railway, all within 30 minutes’ drive. Warmed by an eco-friendly biomass boiler, Beater's Cottage is an impressive, stone detached cottage, retaining character features, and offering practical accommodation throughout. Entering the property past the babbling river with trout fishing permits, and crossing the front patio you will immediately start to unwind. Stepping inside through the porch into the dining room, you will find an arch leading into the welcoming sitting room with comfy sofas and a warming woodburner set in an inglenook hearth, with river views to the side, inviting you to sit and relax straight away. The kitchen is fitted to offer everything you will need, with an original Rayburn stove retained as a character feature to compliment the exposed ceiling beams and also offering river views. Upstairs stylish oak flooring has been laid in keeping with the theme of the property, and a king-size four poster bed installed in the double bedroom, which is accessed through one of the two twin bedrooms. There is a spacious master king-size bedroom with delightful views over the river and sofa seating. There are family bathrooms on each floor and a utility room off the kitchen to ensure you have everything in the house for a relaxing stay. The garage has been set up with a table tennis table, ideal for family tournaments; whilst outside the large, enclosed rear courtyard is partly covered and offers a Mediterranean feel, as well as providing access to the heated indoor swimming pool, with eight person sauna. The owner is happy for you to use the outdoor tennis court accessed through the delightful manor gardens, but please bring your own equipment. Once you have tired yourself out with the activities available on site, or the miles of footpaths that cross the land, then just enjoy a refreshing drink, relaxing on the front patio and watching the river meander past, or walk across the road to the 17th century coaching inn where a warm welcome and tasty food is assured. Set at the gathering point of five rivers, amongst stunning North Wales countryside, is the charming market town of Corwen. Offering plenty of local amenities including traditional butchers, greengrocers and bakeries as well as a selection of pubs and restaurants, Corwen provides everything you need whilst discovering this stunning area. Circular walks lead from the centre of the town, wiith a festival dedicated to walking, talking place each year, plus there are many pleasant cycling and mountain biking trails nearby.
