About this property

The Old School is an impressive five bedroom property built in 1890 as the village school, nestled on the edge of the village of Llansannan, within a short walk of the village pub, shop, post office, large playing field, and bowling green, amidst open countryside, rolling hills, and with delightful scenic views. The property provides spacious accommodation for ten guests. A short drive will bring you to the North Wales coastal towns of Abergele and Colwyn Bay, and onto Llandudno and Conwy, whilst in the other direction you will arrive at Llanrwst and Betws-y-Coed, and into the Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park.

Perfect for a family getaway or a group celebration, this pet-friendly property boasts a hot tub, a games room, a pool table room, multi-level gardens, and flexible sleeping arrangements, offering all the essentials for a relaxing, countryside escape. Be welcomed by a private courtyard, with enough space for five cars, before taking a few steps leading up to the front door and a step down into the hallway. The property contains two staircases - the main staircase to four bedrooms and the family bathroom, and the second staircase to a separate suite with king-size bed, en-suite, sitting area and Smart TV.

Be impressed by a spacious open-plan living, kitchen and dining area. There’s a fully-equipped kitchen with everything you’ll need for your break away, and a large 12-foot-long pine table providing ample space to enjoy your meals. Alternatively, if the sun is shining, why not dine alfresco in one of the two outside seating areas where you can grill up a feast on the barbecue, before indulging a long soak in the luxurious hot tub; you’ll certainly be spoilt for choice. As the name suggests, once a school, your new home-from-home pays homage to its origins, with educational books and games dotted around the living spaces, providing plenty of entertainment for the children of your group, whilst for adults, the open-plan living space offers a social hub, for preparing meals, dining, and popping bottles.

For a relaxing nook, head to the sitting room, where you can light the woodburning stove and sink into the plush sofas on offer, whilst a games room and pool table room offers further space to break away and unwind. Five well-appointed bedrooms are on offer, including a super-king-size with en-suite and triple aspect views, two king-size rooms with en-suites, a twin and a super-king-size zip/link that can be a twin on request, all serviced by a family bathroom and a cloakroom. The Old School is the ideal base for you to explore the surrounding area and all that North Wales has to offer.

Please note: A Ring doorbell is installed at the front door for security purposes.

This small Welsh village is situated on the River Elwy, some five miles from the beautiful North Wales coastline and playing host to a few handy amenities, including a Post Office and two pubs. The seaside town of Abergele is within easy reach and is renowned for the impressive Gwrych Castle, which overlooks the town, along with its enormous sandy beach. Choose to ride the coastal cycle path, which runs along the Abergele seafront, while the Offa's Dyke pathway, the Clwydian Hill Range and Betws-y-Coed are all close by. The Victorian town of Llandudno makes a superb day out, with its two waterfronts, abundant shops, pubs and restaurants, and its two headlands, the Great Orme and the Little Orme. Stroll along the golden sand at the North Shore, or find the quieter West Shore more to your liking, with its sublime views towards Anglesey. Venue Cymru offers plenty of nighttime entertainment, with opera, ballet, musicals, comedy and visiting orchestras, all just a stone's throw from the promenade. Colwyn Bay has the Welsh Mountain Zoo, Eirias Park, a leisure centre, and many more shops, pubs and restaurants. You have so much to pass the time, for a real holiday experience to remember.

We had a lovely New Year’s break at The Old School. The property has everything we needed for an enjoyable family break away. There was plenty to keep the children entertained, as the weather was miserable we spent most of our time making use of everything the house has to offer. We had a lovely meal at The Old Stag just a short drive away on New Years Day. We would definitely stay here again.

The welcome pack was a lovely touch and the cottage was so well equipped. We had everything we needed. The area is stunning and the locals were so welcoming. We visited the mountain zoo, the vineyard and lots of dog walks. The hot tub was lovely too. Also had a lovely meal at the old stag. Will definitely stay again.

The cottage was everything and more. The attention to detail was outstanding, with everyone and everything considered. The owner’s communication is like nothing we’ve ever received and really appreciated. The only think I would say requires improvement is some extra kitchen scissors, teaspoons and chopping knives. When thinking the grand scheme of everything that’s literally the only thing. Would not hesitate to return and hope anyone who books enjoys their holiday as much as our three generational family . A credit to the owners xx
