About this property

Ruthin 1 mile. An outstanding, modern ground floor wing of a Grade II listed 17th century cottage, formerly a lavender distillery, set on the owners' smallholding, in the Clwyd Valley a mile from the market town of Ruthin. Providing first-class accommodation with quality fixtures and furnishings, this Ruthin cottage is perfect for a romantic holiday or just for those wishing to get away from it all. With a cosy sitting room with electric fire and well-equipped, modern kitchen/dining room, plus the benefit of full Sky Sports TV package, comfy corner sofa, underfloor central heating, and a super king-size bed, this Ruthin cottage fulfils most requirements.

The cottage is located next to woodland offering walking trails and paths which lead into Ruthin where you can visit the historic gaol and castle, or browse the shops and enjoy the tea rooms, bars and restaurants. Set in 25 acres of pasture land with delightful gardens and a babbling stream meandering past a weeping willow tree, this pretty Ruthin cottage is in an idyllic, tranquil setting, offering superb accommodation for romantic breaks, business guests, walkers, bikers or as a touring base for the North Wales area.

Ruthin has its origins in the 13th Century and was a popular market-town. Evidence of its long and illustrious history can be found in the beams and brickwork in buildings throughout the town. Pendref Chapel is Ruthin’s oldest chapel, dating back to around 1827. Other impressive medieval buildings include Maen Huail, where, according to legend, Huail was beheaded for trying to scupper King Arthur’s quest for true love. In addition to sites of historical interest, many of the pubs and inns in Ruthin have their own tales to tell, such as the 16th Century Myddleton Arms; the site of many cock-fights and having an unusual window arrangement known locally as ‘the eyes of Ruthin’. Other attractions near to Ruthin include the striking ruins of Denbigh Castle and Valle Crucis Abbey, which dates back to the 13th Century.

Great walks to be had too. Bev and Phil were the perfect hosts and made us feel very welcome. We will go back again next year

Plenty of things to do and lots of walking trails for you and your dear dogs. There were lots of information leaflets to hand for places to visit and walks. The hosts Bev and Phil were very kind and helpful and the property was a credit to them. We had a lovely weeks break. 8
