About this property

This delightful, detached cottage rests in a desirable position in the centre of Aberdaron, North Wales. Settled within just a minute's walk to amenities and the wonderful Traeth Aberdaron beach, Glanrafon is a wonderful choice for families or two couples looking to experience this bustling North Wales location, there is an internal staircase that is steep and narrow and may not be suitable for people with limited mobility. The open-plan living space will welcome you after a day out, complete with plush seating, a Smart TV. Move into the kitchen, fully appointed for the demands of home-cooking, here you can prepare a delicious feast whilst the rest of the group set the dining table with crockery and cutlery.

On those warmer evenings, take advantage of the patio garden and relax at the patio furniture, contemplating which North Wales attraction to visit next. As you look to rest, upstairs plays host to two wonderful double bedrooms, served by a bathroom with bath and shower over, so you can best decide how to prepare for the day. The picturesque fishing village of Aberdaron is a wonderful base for a holiday; the harbour is surrounded by a beach at one end and a golden expanse at the other, with the National Trust – Llyn Peninsula on the eastern side of the harbour.

Traeth Porth Meudwy, a neighbouring slate quarry that is now a nature reserve, and Porth Simdde, a sandy cove with a small beach just north of Aberdaron, provides another sandy option. Those avid walkers can find many scenic routes in the vicinity; many of which link up to the Welsh Coastal Path, opening up miles of unspoilt coastal and clifftop walks. Take yourself further afield and visit the Italianate village of Portmerion, the picturesque Snowdonia National Park and the Isle of Anglesey. Box off the attractions of North Wales during a traditional escape at Glanrafon.

The seaside village of Aberdaron is peacefully situated around two streams, and facing the sea. Straggling up the hills are the buildings that give Aberdaron its character; the lime-washed fishermen's cottages, the cafes, shops, and hotels, and the church of St Hywyn. On each side of the river's mouth is the beach for walking and playing on, and a promenade where you can watch the sailing boats and regattas in the bay. There is also a National Trust visitor centre and car park. The popular resorts of Pwllheli and Abersoch are within easy reach. Discover fabulous castles and coves, or enjoy excellent fishing, watersports and golf opportunities, all available nearby. The dramatic scenery and abundance of superb walks at the Snowdonia National Park area are within easy driving distance, making an ideal base for a varied and enjoyable holiday, at any time of year.

The garden furniture is in poor state/broken and needs replacing, chipped plates, the one bed is not comfortable, but do not want to sound negative as we so enjoyed the cottage and will definitely book again. Location is great. Lovely vibe in Aberdaron.

It's position is wonderful and the space in front is really good. The inside downstairs is pretty good with great sofa and tv and internet. Kitchen area also good. However upstairs, apart from the bathroom is a bit shabby and the beds extremely old and uncomfortable. The outside bins were full and the recycling overflowing when we arrived and were not emptied while we were there. The floors in the cottage were not especially clean when we arrived. So overall, though we had a good holiday would not rush back to this cottage without some improvement being assured.

Great location, plenty of parking. Near all local amenities. Spacious and well kitted out with quality kitchen and bathroom. Comfy sofa and good wifi. Shower was awesome. Would definitely recommend! The only snag we had was a struggle to dry things after being at the beach and walking in the rain (swimwear, coats, clothes, boots & towels). As it was so rainy, we couldn't dry on the washing line and there wasn't anywhere warm inside, as its summer the heating was understandably turned off. But with better weather this wouldn't have mattered. Super cottage, loved it!
