Gamekeepers Cottage is an absolute gem and truly feels like stepping back in time. From the moment we arrived, we were struck by what a beautiful example of a traditional Welsh cottage this is. It has been lovingly restored with great care taken to preserve its original features, and there is an abundance of charming details and curiosities to admire throughout. The location is wonderful, with stunning views that can be enjoyed from both the garden and the hot tub. The garden is fully enclosed, which gave us complete peace of mind allowing our dog to roam safely. While the setting feels wonderfully remote and peaceful, amenities are easily accessible, with large supermarkets available in the nearby town of Cardigan, just a short drive away.Inside, the cottage is cosy, welcoming, and thoughtfully laid out. As expected with a one-bedroom property, it is compact, but it has everything needed for a comfortable stay. We were pleasantly surprised to find a downstairs toilet, which was an added bonus. The kitchen is well equipped and provides ample space for preparing meals, and the dining room is simply lovely—made even more special by the Christmas lights that greeted us on arrival. The cottage was warm and comfortable throughout our stay. Underfloor heating keeps the downstairs cosy, while the radiators upstairs are heated via the log burner. If visiting during colder months, it is worth remembering to bring logs, but once we had this figured out, the upstairs was wonderfully toasty. The sitting room is snug and inviting, with a comfortable sofa and chair and a television for relaxed evenings in.The bedroom is warm and welcoming, with an en-suite bathroom featuring a powerful shower and a beautiful freestanding bath—perfect for unwinding at the end of the day.We absolutely loved all the quirky, characterful features: doors that don’t quite shut properly, uneven floors upstairs, and all the little imperfections that make this cottage so special. These details are a testament to the age and history of the property and only add to its charm. If you are looking for a peaceful, cosy retreat in the Welsh countryside, we would highly recommend Gamekeepers Cottage. It is not designed to be luxurious, but what it offers instead is authenticity, charm, and a truly memorable stay. With care and respect for this tender, historic home, it is a place you will undoubtedly fall in love with.
