The property is generally clean, with clean bathrooms, beds, and kitchen. However, some guests mentioned the presence of cobwebs, suggesting the need for a deeper clean.

The location is appreciated for its easy access to the beach and nearby Tenby. However, one review expressed disappointment with the estate-like setting and lack of privacy, impacting the score.

Guests found the property comfortable, with adequate space and a quiet environment. Suggestions for improvement include the addition of fans in bedrooms and a non-slip mat in the shower.

This cosy and well-equipped beach chalet, Sanderling, is located in the popular Freshwater Bay Holiday Village in Freshwater East, Pembrokeshire. It is 330 yards from the beach. This clean and comfortable accommodation is perfect for families, a break with friends or a solo expedition. There is dedicated parking outside, and Freshwater East beach and the coast path are minutes away from your front door. Charging of electric vehicles is not allowed, however there are charging points at a supermarket in Pembroke Dock and other local areas.

Freshwater East beach is a lovely sandy beach, backed by sand dunes, and with rocky areas to explore. It rarely gets crowded and is good for paddling and bodyboarding. There is normally an ice-cream van in the car park on sunny days.

The area around Freshwater is very popular with outdoor activities such as walking, climbing, stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, surfing and swimming, and Freshwater West is a well-known surfing beach. Barafundle is also lovely. For walkers, the coastal path, east and west, starts pretty much at the front door.

There is an on-site pub and restaurant serving pub grub-style food. You can find it at the entrance to the holiday village and has free Wi-Fi (it might be worth booking a table during busy periods). If you want to order a shopping delivery for your arrival day, both supermarkets in nearby Pembroke Dock deliver to the holiday village. There isn’t an on-site shop, the nearest large supermarkets are in Pembroke Dock (15-20 mins drive), and the nearest convenience store (pint of milk etc) is the garage in Lamphey, approx. 2 miles away. Tenby has a multitude of cafés, restaurants and take-aways.

A car is desirable in this area to help you enjoy your stay, although there are buses that can connect walkers and cyclists.

Pets are not allowed anywhere on the site.

If you want a charming, characterful property that is tucked away somewhere secluded, look elsewhere. But if practicality and value-for-money are your priorities, this property is worth considering. My wife and I found Sanderling to be clean, comfortable, well-equipped, light, and warm enough (we stayed during a wet week in September). Also, despite the fact that there are many other properties on the estate (all of which is holiday accommodation), it was quite quiet there - except for a few occasions when the local crows decided to caw, caw and caw some more. There was plenty of space for the two of us. The property will take four people, which I think would be OK, although the occupants of the room with the bunk beds may wish for more space for belongings. The Wi-Fi was easy to connect to, and it was reliable. However, there was no phone signal (as with much of the South Pembrokeshire coast, at least on Giffgaff / O2).There were some minor niggles - for instance, the tap in the bathroom basin was so stiff that it was difficult to control, the bathroom vent sometimes rattled in strong winds, the controls for the lounge and bedroom heaters are very complicated, and we couldn't get the grill on the cooker to work - despite reading the instructions!Talking of instructions - the instructions for all of the appliances were provided, which was useful. A comprehensive and well-written general information folder was also provided - however, it had been left on the top of the sideboard prior to our arrival, and we didn't know that it existed, so we only happened upon it after we had been there for half a day.Notwithstanding the niggles, the property served us very well for our holiday. Best of all, it is within easy walking distance of Freshwater East beach.

Lovely location and easy access to the beach , even with a trolley. Tenby is also easy access , about a 20 minute drive. Very quiet site that is well kept. The house is very well equipped …. The only recommendation given the ever warming weather, would be a fan in the bedrooms . The bathroom and beds and kitchen were clean…. Lots of cobwebs everywhere though, so perhaps needs a bit of deep clean. Would def recommend, great place for kids too x

I felt this could never be classed under cottages.com - it is neither cottage or holiday lodge it is an end of terrace two up one down house on an estate The outlook is poor from the back on to wheelie bins and direct vision into other peoples property - no where nice to sit unless you want to sit at the front door next to your car or at the back again with wheelie bins no privacy The accommodation is ok as long as you don’t mind being on a housing estate. I had no idea when I booked this and was very disappointed. Yes the beach is there after quite a walk up a hill from this accommodation and as you are in a dip no nice views just houses all around a few trees in the distance.
