Oak Lodge is a glorious pet-friendly lodge resting near the River Lugg in Llangunllo, Powys. Ideal for families and friends boasting a simmering hot tub with woodland vistas, en‑suite bedrooms and open‑plan living. As you arrive, the white timber exterior stands proudly against its rural backdrop, with brooks, rivers and gentle birdsong creating a welcoming sense of place, while the side decking draws your eye toward the flowing water where the hot tub waits for evenings spent beside the riverbank. The surroundings immediately heighten the feeling of stepping away from the everyday as you approach the entrance. Step inside where the open‑plan living area encourages you to settle in.
You move across the flooring toward a kitchen created for laid‑back meal preparation, complete with a generous workspace and everything required for easy cooking. The dining area seats eight, and artwork on the walls adds character and warmth as you gather around the table. Beyond this space, the sitting area invites you to relax on the leather corner sofa and armchairs, with windows behind revealing stunning views that shift gently throughout the day. The electric fire offers an atmospheric focal point for evenings spent indoors after exploring the surrounding countryside. Continue to the ground‑floor twin bedroom, a practical choice for guests who prefer step‑free living, with the ground‑floor shower room nearby offering a walk‑in shower, basin and WC.
Head upstairs via the spiral staircase, where the landing opens into a flexible space furnished with a sofa bed available on request, offering an additional sleeping option when needed. From here, each first‑floor bedroom extends the lodge’s thoughtful design, beginning with the twin room featuring a Juliette balcony for letting in the fresh countryside air and an en‑suite walk‑in shower, basin and WC. The king‑size bedroom is a standout space with sliding doors that frame the views like a moving landscape, a mounted TV and a Juliette balcony that encourages you to pause and breathe in the fresh air each morning.
Its private en‑suite shower room, complete with walk‑in shower, basin and WC, offers a well‑appointed and convenient space to begin or end the day. Step back outside where the decking becomes a natural gathering point. The hot tub overlooks the river, providing a scenic place to unwind beneath the stars, while the outdoor furniture creates an inviting setting for long summer evenings. The garden flows naturally into the countryside beyond, and with the river and village pub only a short stroll away and a shop reached by a pleasant drive, Oak Lodge offers an excellent base for your stay. Let Oak Lodge lead you into your next escape.

Set amidst lovely rolling countryside, the rural hamlet of Llangunllo is only seven miles from the market town of Knighton, which straddles the English/Welsh border. This is superb country for walking and cycling. Offa's Dyke passes through Knighton and the Glyndwr's Way National Trail passes through Llangunllo itself. The village has a railway station on the Heart of Wales line, which opens up the possibility of a car free trip to Shrewsbury or Llandrindod Wells perhaps or a walk back from Knighton or through the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Radnor Forest and the 84 mile long Radnor Ring Cycling Route are all close by, as is the lovely town of Presteigne with its famous gas-lit Judge's Lodging museum and electric bike hire for those looking for a little help with the hills. A 40 minute drive will take you to the majestic Victorian dams and reservoirs at Elan Valley, or medieval Ludlow with its 13th century castle, ancient buildings, boutiques, antique shops and acclaimed restaurants and markets. There are some fabulous National Trust Properties in the vicinity such as Croft Castle, with its working walled garden and 1500 acres of parkland, or Berrington Hall boasting Capability Brown landscaped gardens and a Henry Holland villa, both of which are accessed via a scenic drive through the Black and White villages and cider country of Herefordshire. Alternatively enjoy a trip to Powis Castle, stopping off at Kerry Vale Vineyard? Enjoy watching red kites, fishing, clay pigeon shooting, horse riding, rally driving, or one of the many day courses available in the thriving local crafts scene- blacksmithing, glass blowing, wood turning and many more- all available locally.
