Holiday Cottages In Knighton

Knighton is a small market town in Wales, right on the Welsh-English border. Close the Shropshire Hills AONB, this lovely place is ideal for a cottage holiday away from the hubbub of city life.

Knighton is the only town to sit on the Offa's Dyke and is the midpoint of the Offa's Dyke National Trail. If you enjoy walking this spot is a great place to stay. Even aside from this National Trail, there are plenty of trails to explore this fantastic landscape. When it's time for refreshment, there are some tasty places to grab a bite to eat or enjoy a drink. Full of Welsh charm, Knighton is a relaxing place to stay.

What our customers say about their holidays

  • Steven - Verified booking

We booked this property as it looked ideal for us to explore the area, it certainly didn't disappoint.

Quirky with character, all you required to have a relaxing and enjoyable stay. The layout was well thought out and the property owners who live next door and also run the local convenience store located to the front of their property were always available if needed. On arrival they met us with open arms and by the time we left I felt I had known them for many years having chats in their lovely old shop, they were so friendly and helpful and couldn't do enough for you. We visited a couple of national trusts not that far away plus a bit of sight seeing, weather behaved during the day so we made the most of it. If you are looking for a relaxing break in a sleepy chocolate box village and have no major mobility issues I suggest give this place a try, you will love it. Hope to return at some point in the future..

    The accommodation was absolutely superb.

Facilities far better than I thought, everything that you would need was there. It was super clean, quiet and comfortable. The location was very good too, close enough to drive into Shrewsbury, Ludlow, Leominster and pop over to Wales. Craven Arms is lovely and one thing we did was visit The Land of Lost Content Museum, quirky but brilliant. All those memories came flooding back when we saw all the stuff we'd forgotten about from the 60's & 70's (there is a lot more too) which was 'our' era. Two hours 30 minutes just melted away. There is a supermarket and garden centre, pubs, restaurants and takeaways all really close by. Unfortunately we didn't manage to take in the Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre but we will on out next visit. A thoroughly relaxing break.

The hosts are very nice people.

The property is very spacious and cool ( we stayed during the first hot month of June '23) Parking is also very good and the location was perfect for our requirements. The road is busy at times, but the property is set well back and the noise was very acceptable. There is a railway line around 3/4 mile away (not at all intrusive) which I found great as I am a railway enthusiast. There is a large kitchen with very good facilities, the bathroom only had a (large ) shower (I always prefer a shower) so some may feel restricted. The Water is soft water (certainly softer than Cambridgeshire), and a pleasure to wash with. A very nice place to stay!!

Before arrival I had been a little concerned about possible noise as I knew the property was on a working farm, but in fact it was extremely peaceful and quiet.

There is an amazing view from the main window across fields to distant hills. Comfortable bedroom with good storage. Powerful shower. Good wifi. The main room is open plan kitchen, dining, and sofa area with laminate flooring - practical but not specially cosy. Maybe a rug would help. No garden (there is a small patio) and you are asked not to go in to the yard at the rear (it is a working area), so you do need a car to get out and about. But its a good location, convenient for lots of things. Shropshire is lovely. Watch out for roadworks on the A49 - it was unexpectedly closed one night, in both directions, requiring an extremely long detour.

This is a lovely cottage. Very well provided for in terms of accommodation, with everything you need to self cater, right down to kitchen equipment. Spotlessly clean. Lovely village and surroundings. The front bedroom would be a bit noisy if you wanted the window open as it fronts the road - but there was a bit of agricultural traffic at the time of our visit due to harvesting time, so perhaps worse than normal. The small courtyard garden doesn’t get much sunlight - only need to bear in mind if you intend spending daytimes at the cottage, but I think most people will be out exploring. We would re-visit.
