Cuckoo Hill Lodge is in the heart of Mid Wales, surrounded by rolling hills. The lodge is all on the ground floor and has an open plan living area with a wood burner and large TV, and a well equipped kitchen, three bedrooms and two bathrooms. In the private garden you can relax in a hot tub as you ease your walking muscles after a day exploring.
There is plenty to do in this area, and a visit to the Elan Valley is a must as the scenery is just simply stunning, with forested areas, waterfalls and Victorian dams, great for walkers, cyclists and bikers. The Red Kite feeding and rehabilitation centre is not far from the property, and the sheep dogs put on a great show moving the cattle and sheep from the fields before feeding starts. The Gilfach Nature Reserve is a fabulous place to take a walk with its small rapids and waterfalls. The market town of Rhayader has plenty of restaurants and coffee shops, local amenities and stores.
For those wanting to travel further afield, then the market town of Builth Wells is 9 miles away and home to the Royal Welsh Showground, which hosts multiple events throughout the year. The spa town of Llandrindod Wells is 12 miles from the property and hosts a great golf course and lots of open country parks. The Brecon Beacons National Park is 35 miles from the property for those more adventurous, where a day climbing Pen Y Fan is a must, with its panoramic views. Shop, restaurant 2½ miles, pub 3 miles.

Our stay at Cuckoo Hill Lodge was absolutely fantastic—honestly, it couldn’t have been better. Ann’s hospitality was second to none, with so many thoughtful little touches that really made a difference.She was always available to offer helpful advice and local recommendations, while still giving us the privacy we wanted for a peaceful rural getaway. It struck the perfect balance.The accommodation itself was flawless—spotlessly clean, well-equipped, and we genuinely didn’t want for anything. We enjoyed it so much that we ended up rebooking before we’d even left!

Our first holiday with our dogs and what a holiday it was. The hot tub was brilliant and easy to use with Ann going through the buttons with us. The garden was huge perfect for the dogs to run around plenty of room they were thrilled. The house itself clean, modern couldn’t ask for more. The log fire was perfect and made it even more cosier than it already was. We received scones, cakes and dog treats on arrival. And even Welsh cakes on departure. There was milk in the fridge and eggs also there for us. Couldn’t ask for much more would rate it ten stars if I could. Will definitely be back soon as we are already looking to book the next trip. The accommodation was fantastic. Large, clean, comfortable and had everything you needed.The host was welcoming and the little touches when we arrived made it that extra bit special.The garden was great for our 2 dogs to run around, very safe.Very peaceful and relaxing break.And that hot tub, wow!!Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can’t wait to return one day.Thank you to our host for making it a great stay.
