About this property

Llanfair Caereinion 1.9 miles. The Granary is an inviting farm stay resting in Llangyniew, Powys, framed by thick stone walls, exposed beams and far-reaching countryside views. Tucked within the Jones family farm, this converted former stock shed and grain store blends character features with the essentials for an easy-going rural escape, complete with off-road parking and a private courtyard for unwinding outdoors. Step inside to find a practical ground floor of slate tiles and laminate flooring, where a welcoming kitchen/diner offers plenty of space for everyone to gather over simple suppers, map out walks or share board games long into the evening.

Moving through to the sitting room, timber beams overhead and views across the fields create a real sense of place, while seating for the whole group invites you to slow down, watch the changing light over the hills, or simply enjoy time together after a day exploring Mid Wales. Upstairs, carpeted floors lead to four bedrooms, three doubles and a super-king-size (zip/link), giving friends or family room to spread out and settle in. A sleek ground-floor shower room with walk-in shower and heated towel rail adds to the practical layout, along with a washing machine for dealing with muddy clothes after adventures.

Outside, the enclosed courtyard becomes a natural hub with a welcoming hot tub, outdoor furniture and a gas barbecue encouraging al fresco breakfasts or relaxed evening meals as the sun dips behind Cadair Idris on the horizon. Being set on a working farm, you may spot sheep and cattle in neighbouring fields or watch red kites circling overhead, adding to the sense of being surrounded by nature. 40 acres surrounding the property allows guests to roam around and take in the country air. From here you can head into nearby villages and market towns, use local shops to stock up for your stay, or simply roam the surrounding countryside on foot.

Powis Castle is a National Trust must whilst Lake Vyrnwy and Pistyll Rhaedr (Llanrhaedr Waterfall) offers a wonderfully tranquil experience of nature in the heart of Wales. Whatever your plans, The Granary offers a lovely base for discovering Llangyniew and the wider Mid Wales landscape.

The town of Llanfair Caereinion is built upon the site of an old Roman fort, in the valley of the River Banwy. It is a thriving town built around The Church of St Mary, with a Post Office, two supermarkets, a butcher with local meats and a selection of three different pubs. The annual Llanfair Caereinion Carnival is very popular with locals, and proceeds through the town with a full parade of floats and dancing troupes, providing a Rio carnival atmosphere. There is a river walk along the banks of the Banwy leading to an Arboretum, containing over 25 different species of British trees, an ideal place to explore before stepping back in time and jumping on the start of the narrow gauge heritage steam railway that runs 8.5 miles west to Welshpool. Welshpool nestles into the upper reaches of the picturesque Severn Valley near the border between Wales and England. This bustling market town is surrounded by rolling hills and glorious unspoilt countryside. There's a unique blend of shops offering arts & crafts, fashion & leisure, fresh produce, and quality pubs and restaurants, as well as the town centre’s restored cock fighting pit and interesting Heritage Trail. Visit the famous 13th Century Powis Castle, and the renowned Dingle Gardens. Enjoy a cruise in the summer sun along the Montgomery Canal or glorious walks and bike rides along National walking trails and the Offa’s Dyke Pathway.
