Gloriously situated at the end of Bala Lake, this delightful holiday property, next door to the owners’ seasonal coffee shop, has a lovely decked area from which to admire the stunning views across Wales’ largest natural lake. Fishing is available on Bala Lake (or Llyn Tegid to give it its Welsh name) and a licence may be purchased locally. Stroll to the end of the lake and catch a narrow gauge steam train on the Bala Lake Railway, along the lake shore to the pretty village of Llanuwchllyn. The market town of Bala is close by and offers several pubs, restaurants and cafes within walking distance, as well as a nearby leisure centre and shopping facilities. Located in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park, you can take the mountain road over to Lake Vyrnwy, an experience in itself, or the easy route to the beach at Barmouth, just over 25 miles away.

We loved our stay at this very well equipped cottage. The cream and scones on arrival set the tone for a fantastic stay where the hosts went above and beyond to ensure an enjoyable and relaxing break.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable 3 night stay in this truly delightful cottage. The location on the edge of bala lake was perfect for us, morning coffee outside with the view overlooking the lake was stunning. The layout of the cottage felt quirky and fun (including the steep stairs everyone mentions).Our welcome was warm, from our very friendly host, and the welcome scones and goodies was much appreciated.Comfy cosy beds with high quality bedding and pillows allowed us a most comfortable stay. We would 💯 stay again!

I would have liked to have given this a higher rating, as the owners made us feel very comfortable, however, there were a few issues that mean it only gets 3 stars. The cottage is a little dated, in particular the plumbing (one issue with hot water pressure was resolved during our stay). The shower downstairs is not really up to modern standards, with the pressure very poor, and the temperature not adjustable. It would be worth installing a power shower, to give it a bit more oomph!While the view is great from the front of the cottage, unfortunately the cottage is right next to the main road going into Bala. While this may not trouble some people, it was a real issue for us. The main bedroom faces onto the road, and there is almost constant traffic from 6am to late into the evening, so we were woken up at 6 every morning. It's meant to be 20mph at this point on the road, but no one was going that speed, particularly the lorries or motorbikes (which treat it like a race track!).It would be worth Eleri & Gareth updating the photos on the website, because a few things have changed. The pictures shows a fence/railing below the decking area, so dogs wouldn't be able to get out into the car park, but this has now gone, so we had to put a chair across the stairs to the deck to stop our dog getting out...perhaps a small gate at the top of the stairs would help this.
