About this property

A wonderful end of terrace, stone-built cottage resting in an elevated position amidst the traditional village of Tanygrisiau which has just been granted UNESCO world heritage status. With plenty of walks from the doorstep and fabulous views over the Moelwyn mountain range, this retreat is well-suited for a romantic break, or those looking for a sense of adventure. The ground floor is home to an entrance hallway, which continues through to a pretty lounge featuring an elegant sofa, woodburning stove and dining for four people. Take a step down to the modern kitchen, here you can prepare those home cooked meals amongst the dramatic mountain landscape which almost follows you around.

Open up the French doors and stroll outside to be at one with it all, a lovely place to relax and take in the natural scenery, while enjoying the soothing sounds of the waterfall. Take the stairs to the next floor where you will find an all-white bathroom containing an overhead shower, with a Velux window overseeing the formation. Two bedrooms promise a good nights sleep; the first is presented as a double, complemented by front-facing views and chandeliers which uplift the room in a boutique fashion. The single bedroom is equally as stylish, however this time views reach out towards the mountains, so you can wake up to the serene backdrop every day that goes by.

The village stands amongst enticing scenery, and Tanygrisiau is a good starting point for many walks, especially if your intention is to climb Moelwyn itself. A short distance away is Blaenau Ffestiniog home to a variety of shops and pubs, best known for its tourist attractions. A short drive takes you to Zip World Titan with its amazing zip lines or Bounce Below with its underground trampolines for a great day out. Visit delightful Betws-y-Coed, the Italianate Village at Portmeirion, or Bala, appreciated for its renowned white water rafting opportunities. A characterful location for a heart-warming stay.

The kitchen was well equipped and there was a good supply of hot water. However this is not a house for a winter break. It took time and ingenuity to get warm. The bathroom was freezing and we had to override the heater settings not to freeze at night. The log fire warmed up the main room when we lit it in the evening but only one heater in there meant it never got warm in the day. There were no instructions or information in the house e.g. for heating, lighting log burner, TV etc. We managed but came home a day early. I am sure it is a lovely place to stay in the warmer months.

Plus no blinds nor curtains on the kitchen windows which are big windows, and you feel you're on display! Plus no instructions for the use of the storage heaters, which were switched on, but didn't know how to alter the temperature etc.
