Frondirion is a traditional stone cottage near Dinas Mawddwy, close to Dolgellau, in Gwynedd. Formerly a National Trust property and now being privately let, this characterful pet-friendly retreat welcomes families and friends to an elevated hillside setting with far-reaching countryside views, a hot tub, and easy access to the spectacular landscapes of southern Eryri National Park. Arriving at Frondirion, follow the rural driveway through the surrounding countryside, passing through two gates before reaching the cottage. Guests can drive directly to the property, where there is space to park at least two cars at the front. From here, take a moment to admire the sweeping views across the valley before stepping inside this charming stone-built retreat.
Enter the sitting room, where slate flooring lies underfoot and exposed timber beams cross overhead, showcasing the cottage's heritage. At the heart of the room, an impressive inglenook fireplace houses a woodburning stove, inviting you to settle onto the sofa or one of the armchairs with a favourite programme on the TV after a day of exploring. A charming window seat offers a delightful spot to sit with a morning coffee while gazing out at the countryside, and thoughtful touches, including traditional artwork and an old painting, celebrate the property's history and character. The delightful town of Dolgellau, which nestles beside the foothills of one of the most spectacular mountains in Wales, Cader Idris, is only 10 miles away and its 17th-century bridges, church and variety of pubs and eating houses create a pleasant atmosphere. This whole area is a paradise for walkers, climbers, birdwatchers and bikers amidst all of Snowdonia and the nearby Coed-y-Brenin Forest with its famous mountain bike trails.
