  The surroundings were spectacular and secluded and were as we'd expected.

  The bedlinen was clean and fresh, and the toilet sink and bath were clean, as was the fridge and cooker. However the general cleanliness was lacking and the standard of the yurt was poor. Previous reviews have suggested that the yurt is in need of some TLC and that it was shabby.......this is in my opinion an understatement........dust, sticky handles, cobwebs and when we first walked in there was a strong odour. The outside furniture was dirty and would have needed to be cleaned thoroughly before we used it, which we were not prepared to do. At the very least we expected the property to be scrupulously clean, especially given current circumstances (global pandemic). We did not take this up with the owners, who live on site, as we felt that it was not something that could be put right in a couple of hours, and we did not feel that we wanted to have to unpack etc, or vacate the yurt for any length of time. In spite of this, we did enjoy the week, and the surrounding area is beautiful. Would certainly go back to this area, but not to this accommodation. I'd suggest that anyone considering making a booking, should read the reviews further back than this year, and also for the other yurts on the site. The problem of cleanliness seems to be a recurring theme, going back some time, and one which neither the owners nor Sykes cottages appears to have addressed.

  We found this lovely little lodge to be very pleasant for our family (2 adults, 2 teenagers and 2 dogs) for our short stay in Ledbury.

  The landlady was so helpful with regards arrival time and we found the lodge to be clean with some very thoughtful touches (kids were impressed by the nice biscuits and crisps that were waiting for us). The location was excellent as it was only a short walk to the station, to the town, and up the hill into the woods. We did find the advert to be slightly misleading as we thought we’d have an orchard to walk round but were told that wasn’t part of the property. However there was a small garden area for the dogs and the woods were 2 mins away as mentioned already. We personally wouldn’t choose to stay again as a whole family because our teenagers were really too old for the bouncy bunk beds and we would prefer 3 bedrooms if we stayed away again, but if you have younger kids, or are a couple on your own, this would be absolutely fine. If hubby and I were venturing off on our own with the dogs we’d come back to this lodge for sure. The sofa in the living room was really comfy, the outlook is very pretty and we had no WiFi problems contrary to the reports of other guests.

  I found the property easy to find and the owners welcoming.

  The cottage is ideally positioned for exploring Ledbury and surrounding areas as well as easy access to rail and bus services. There was a good dog walk called the Town Trail which took you into Ledbury. The cottage was clean and has clearly been well used as it was little tired in places and would benefit from some upgrading e.g. replacing the sofa as the cushion support has gone on one side, better cutlery, condiments and perhaps a new cooker although this works perfectly well. I found the sink in the toilet too small to wash in so had to use the kitchen sink - but not a problem for me. One factor which I did find a little concerning was the property is directly opposite Sequani - a research institute which is involved in testing on animals. There were some protests outside the facility for short times on some days. As an animal lover - I probably would not have booked here had I known. However I had an enjoyable holiday with my dog and am grateful for the property owners hospitality.

  We had a wonderful stay over Christmas at this beautiful lodge .

  The view over the lake is simply beautiful with surrounding nature scenery. It’s a quiet tranquil location and very peaceful. Cosy homey atmosphere in cottage - just what we wanted as a family at Christmas time and in winter . It’s spacious and fully equipped with facilities to cook and spending time in this cottage with feeling trapped in . Interior Decor of the cottage is really on high standard and well chosen colours to be a pleasure on the eyes. The owners welcomed us so friendly with a bottle of mulled wine , box of mince pies and xmas card on kitchen counter . It smelled so lovely inside and heating was already upon arrival . Forrest of Dean , Clearwell caves and Symonds yat Rock is astonishing sites to visit and only under or about 30min drive from the lodge. Will definitely want to go back in another season .   Fantastic location could not fault the views and if you want a holiday with complete privacy peace and tranquility this is for you How ever although the views and location are outstanding with it comes cobwebs insects spiders and ducks geese and other birds a plenty so if you don't like being that close to nature it won't be for you The accommodation and outside could certainly do with some maintenance and it wasn't particularly clean and did not smell very good Air conditioning leaked ,carpets and curtains filthy and smelt awful and general cleanliness not great on the inside Outside area untidy barbecue tables and chairs dirty and whole area on veranda in need of maintenance and tlc Hot tub amazing but sauna comes with cobwebs Would certainly consider going back again but would go back in a heartbeat if it was cleaner and smelt better
