What our customers say about their holidays
Ms Stickley - Verified booking
We had a great time and thought the cottage was lovely, however there were a couple of things that let it down and I would not rate 4*. 1. The sofas were really small and uncomfortable and most evenings we resorted to lying on the rug. Cosy sofas would transform the sitting area. 2. The tv was small. This is very subjective I know but in the winter nights most people will settle down to a good film on the sofas and we struggled to do this. 3. Bedroom 2 was very small for 2 adults, maybe only suitable for children? The bulkiness of the bed frames did not help. 4. The distance from the car to the property was hard work with all our luggage. 5. It would have been a lovely gesture for Christmas decorations to be provided. I have spoken to friends about this and all have said when they go away for Christmas the house is decorated. We had to bring our own tree etc which was disappointing. 6. I would have given very good for cleanliness but there were a lot of cobwebs in the property. 7. With regard to the view I would personally cut down the large fir tree just to the front of the property.

We loved this cottage and it’s location. It is on a steep hill overlooking the beautiful, unspoilt village of Beer. In Beer there are a few shops, and pubs. There are also buses to Seaton and to Exeter. The beach (part of the Jurassic Coast) is a pleasant walk downhill of about half a mile. The eastern side of the beach is dog-friendly. We found plenty of places to walk our dogs, some accessed by quite busy roads with no paths. For us it was perfect. We would definitely like to visit in the future. We recommend for those that enjoy staying in an elevated position. Those with mobility issues might struggle without help.

Wonderful place to stay.
Very comfortable and clean. Welcome bag a lovely treat and lots of information available. I would suggest a Smart tv as those with accounts for Netflix etc could access for those rainy days, especially during the winter months. I was disappointed there wasnât an option to order logs for my arrival, but this is a small request during winter months when you donât want to drive out to find some. All in all a lovely peaceful stay during December when the rest of the world is going crazy Christmas shopping!

Very close to centre of Beer and easy access to main roads for daytrips to other locations such as Torquay, lyme Regis, Sidmouth , Seaton and Weymouth. Parking pass provided for large car park centre of Beer and no problem in getting a space. Parking outside property is legal 6pm-9am and for loading and unloading. Bed linen was exceptionally clean and cottage was extremely well equipped. We had a relaxing 10 days. Electrical appliances were to a high standard i.e. washing machine, dishwasher, etc.

What a lovely, cosy cottage.
Lots of personal touches that added to the charming character. The kitchen was superbly equipped and there was a very generous welcome pack, in addition to a selection of teas, coffees, condiments, oils and more; there were even some festive decorations and a Christmas tree in the living/dining room which was an unexpected surprise. It was clear that the owners want guests to have a special stay and go the extra mile to ensure this. Everything was much appreciated - thank you and best wishes.
