What our customers say about their holidays

The cottage was lovely, clean and comfortable and the owner was helpful putting things right as necessary.
What let the cottage down was the basics not being available. No hand wash in the kitchen, the tiniest amount of washing up liquid, not one dishwasher tablet, no fire starter pack, one solitary toilet roll, the smallest welcome pack we have ever experienced, 2 tea bags, 2 instant coffee sachets, pint milk - welsh cakes were appreciated though, no spare bin bags, resolved, no hot tub towels, resolved, no washing line or clothes maiden, resolved. We don't expect all inclusive and we bring provisions it did feel that the basics were skimped on. The lack of a visitors book was a real shame, as they can be so helpful with previous visitors recommendations. There is an information pack however it is out of date. We went to a market detailed in there to find is ceased trading a year ago and the farm shop has very little there not worth the drive. Some of the places recommended are a long way from the cottage. As previous visitors have mentioned, the bathroom can become smelly at times, the lack of net curtains in the bedroom creates a lack of privacy. The hot tub recommended temperature of 34 degrees creates a luke warm tub and is nowhere near hot enough. We have rented several properties with hot tubs and have never encountered this. It should be declared on the listing, I would not book a cottage that insisted on this. Again, this felt like a cost cutting exercise. Overall, an absolutely lovely property and the owner was helpful. We had a lovely time staying there, just needs a bit more attention to visitors' needs.

What a lovely place.
The house was excellent. Very comfortable. Lounge, kitchen and bedrooms all recently updated and very well appointed including an air fryer, fridge freezer and dishwasher. Being up the hill you have great views across the hills surrounding and from outside you can see the harbour and sea. John and Veronica are lovely and have made Sunny Hill a lovely place to stay. Porthgain is a beautiful spot, especially if you want to walk in the coastal path or wander down to the harbour for a sunset. The Slooth pub five minutes walk away is also really nice, everyone is friendly and we had two excellent meals there. Make sure you book a table as it is very popular. We also enjoyed a drink after a days walking and sat in the beer garden. Within 20 minutes we visited St Davidâs, Whitesands, Fishguard and Strumble Point. We loved our coastal walking from the house where we saw seals, dolphins and birds of prey. Finding somewhere as stunning as this will be difficult for future holidays and even harder will be finding such a nice property in a perfect spot if you want to be away from the crowds but bear stunning scenery and a lovely pub.

We have just spent a week in this lovely, well equipped traditional cottage in the friendly village of Trefin.
The welcome Welsh cakes & Bara Brith were delicious and a nice touch. We stayed at this cottage in Sept 2023 also and we loved our stay and the local area so much we booked again. The cottage has everything you need and was clean and comfortable throughout. The outside space has good seating and table which we enjoyed with the dry weather. There is also ample, good dining space inside. Kitchen is light and airy with plenty of equipment all in good working order. The shower is powerful and lovely after miles of walking the costal path. The stunning costal path is minutes away on foot. The Ship Inn, Trefin does good food and drink, and the staff are very friendly. We enjoyed good food also at The Sloop Inn & The Shed, Porthgain. Lots of useful info about the area in a well organised folder provided by the owner. Thank you. We will be back!! Elaine and Mark

We enjoyed our stay at the property very much.
Friendly, welcoming and helpful owners, who had prepared the table for an enjoyable cup of tea and Welsh cakes on arrival. Nicely updated rooms, including the lovely modern kitchen/utility, and comfortable bedrooms. It would be nice if the bathroom/shower areas had been updated to the same standard. We thought that there could have been one or two more kitchen items, e.g. an extra pan, a tray for carrying cups of tea, and perhaps a washing-up drainer. We felt that a slightly more detailed handover would have helped with regard to understanding the heating system. It is probably worth mentioning that the parking space available would be a stretch for two cars, but there is free parking in the village car park. However, these small points would not stop us recommending 2, Sunny Hill, or booking again.

We had a fabulous stay.
Like a home from home. The cottage was cosy, well furnished and well equipped. The bed was comfortable and we did light the woodburner on one evening which was lovely. Cottage is in a very friendly village with easy access to stunning coastline. The local pub did great food and drink and the staff were lovely and welcoming. We walked the coastal path following routes given in the information pack and the OS maps were very useful when out in the car. One very small minor detail, I couldn't find a hairdryer but it wasn't a problem and I will take one next time as we are definitely going back next year. We relaxed, walked for miles, visited local places and beaches, saw lots of seals in remote coves, enjoyed local food and drink and had a great time. What more could you want from a holiday. Thank you.
