  The photograph of the stairs is blatantly mis-leading. You can see a hand-rail on the stairs but it does not show the steep turn at the top of the stairs (where there is no hand-rail). This caused a real problem as my wife is slightly disabled and she found coping with the situation extremely distressing. The unsuitability of the stairs for those with any infirmity should be made clear on the web-site. A note on this point was left in the cottage for the owner. Also, when we arrived I phoned the owner to clarify the wi-fi situation. I was told there was no w-fi facility. This confused me as we would not have booked otherwise (as I told the owner). I assumed I had made a mistake but on returning home I looked again at the description on the web-site and it clearly states that wi-fi is available! We have been misled and are very disappointed. The question below asks whether we want this feedback published. In the circumstances it would be more appropriate if you gave the owner the opportunity to consider the position.

  The cottage is beautifully appointed, with high quality furnishings and fittings.

  The beds are really comfortable and it is warm and cosy both upstairs and downstairs, with very efficient central heating and log burner. bathroom is great, good sized bath and very warm. The cottage is compact but there is plenty space for two people and a dog. It is just a short, easy walk to the shops shops and cafes in Settle. Situated on The Green, it has lovely views and is so peaceful and relaxing. There are walks from the cottage up onto the fells, and more challenging walks are just a short drive away. Parking is limited on The Green, but there is a big car park just a few minutes away. We felt that this contributed to the peace and quiet as very few cars go past. We can’t wait to come and stay again. The host was most considerate and accommodating. Thank you!

  This is the second time my brother has stayed here while I’ve been visiting school friends and family in Leeds.

  It is the best cottage Sykes have in the area in our opinion. The position in Settle is amazing, the views are wonderful from the cottage, being only a few minutes from the town centre and train station. The cottage is beautifully furnished, the kitchen has full appliances, the bedroom is a good size with good quality furniture. The bathroom has a lovely corner bath/shower. I have M.S. and access in and out of the cottage was no problem, the short walks are worth every breath, even going up and down hill! In fact breathtaking is a good description of the whole experience. Ian and Victoria are so helpful, and accommodating, providing a great welcome gift and card, making the stays such a pleasure. If we could give them 11/10 we would. Perfect.

  I'll get the gripe out the way first.

  The check-in and departure time is the meanest I've ever seen out of the 50+ places we been to over the years. We were especially disgruntled at the 9am departure time -although we knew this before we booked so it didn't put us off booking this fantastic place but may do others. Ok so now that's over we just wanted to say wow, wow, wow! Heugh barn is amazing, so clean and probably the of the best equiped UK stays we have been in. Everything was clear in the guide book too and that log burner is out of this world. We had the most wonderful, memorable New Year in the barn, toasting the new year in with the log fire roaring away. The barn is an a remote location, away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The bed was soooooo comfortable!

  We stayed last week at Rose Cottage and from start to finish, thoroughly enjoyed it.

  Our arrival was swift when we met Mrs Benton we felt very welcome and nothing changed through till checkout. The Cottage is as you imagine, Old and quirky but that's what we booked so hit the nail on the head. The Cottage was well equipped with everything we needed (a pair of kitchen tongs was the only missing item) It was clean and comfortable. We met Ted, the farm dog, what a beautiful boy - he came to welcome us each morning with a stick, stone or a leaf - fabulous. On check out Mrs Benton took time to show us the rest of the properties to rent which were beautiful. We look to book again and recommend it to anyone.
