What our customers say about their holidays

We really enjoyed our stay at Corner Cottage, we renamed it Cwtch corner cottage as it is so cozy, chillier early mornings were spent in the lounge with the fire on and snuggled up on the very comfortable sofas under a blanket!
itâs in a lovely spot facing out onto the village green and our Golden Retriever puppy spent many a happy hour watching the sheep nibbling the grass and then trotting past the cottage, the window sill in the main bedroom is low so he could sit and see the world go by. The cottage has everything that you need for your stay and will happily accommodating people. There is a fully equipped kitchen with a huge oven, small dishwasher, washer dryer in the utility room and a fridge with freezer compartment. Parking is at the front of the cottage with room for one car. The parking to the rear (immediately outside the kitchen window) is for the cottage next door. The bedrooms are very comfortable and the third twin which is a mezzanine above the kitchen provided our teenager with a great space to chill out. The bath upstairs is large is great for a relaxing soak after a day out at the beach or walking and there is a decent shower in the downstairs shower room. For rainy days or quieter evenings there is a chess set, piano with a Beatles sheet music book, a puzzle and a great selection of books and DVDâs. The outside space runs to the side of the cottage and the patio is a nice place to sit and watch the sheep going about their daily routines. Just opposite the cottage is a public footpath that we used to take out our dog, he loved paddling in the brook and we walked him through the fields. Care needs to be taken as their is livestock roaming about. We found that the first part of the walk was dog friendly with stiles that can be walked through, but when you reach a small road and move into another footpath, the stiles are the climb over sort and not suited to trying to lift a nine month old retriever over or other large dog. Great local shop in the village selling a good variety of products and local delicacies. This is also the Post Office too. The King Arthur pub is well frequented and although we didnât stay for a drink due to the ongoing COVID situation, Grandma enjoyed a takeaway coffee. Oxwich is the nearest beach and is great for rockpooling, swimming, stand up paddle boarding and is very dog friendly. There is a hotel on the beach with a good restaurant and also a shop and other eating facilities. We will return to Corner cottage Iâm sure.

We stayed at Yr Hen Ffald over the Christmas break, originally booking for 7 nights, which we increased to 12, then further to 16 nights as we just couldn't tear ourselves away!
From the moment we stepped in through the front door and met our host, Dawn, we could feel the warmth and welcome of this very special home. The cottage is cosy and comfortable, very spacious, and above all else, sparkling clean. The cupboards were filled with everything you could possibly need during your stay from clean towels and bedding, to having all the kitchen utensils you'd have in your own home. You're also guaranteed a good night's sleep in your tranquil surroundings; despite only being a stone's throw from the M4 there is no traffic noise whatsoever, you're just surrounded by lush green fields where mornings are welcomed with the most beautiful sunrises and the days close with sunsets befitting of oil paintings (should you of course be lucky with the weather). There was a beautiful welcome basket on arrival piled high with goodies and being Christmastime, every room had been tastefully decorated, oozing festive charm. We will definitely be booking ahead for Christmas next year with undoubtedly a good few trips in between as I'm sure it will be wonderful to experience the changing of the seasons in this stunning location. 5* go to Dawn and Brian for their hospitality; living not too far away themselves they were only too happy to help should we have needed anything, which we didn't during our stay as it was perfect, but even so it was just nice to see Dawn's smiling face now and again when she'd visit to prepare the neighbouring property, a converted barn which they also rent as a holiday let (Ysgubor Hir). There were probably three different families staying there during our stay, but there was no disturbance whatsoever and we still felt as though we were the only ones there. We cannot recommend this property highly enough! Dawn a Brian, diolch yn fawr am eich caredigrwydd. Gobeithio eich gweld chi yn fuan iawn. Mags a Paul.

Unfortunately there were a few issues at the property which some may say are trivial.
However the downstairs toilet and shower were a problem. Firstly the lock on the door was not working, the toilet is loose and not screwed to the floor correctly, the toilet seat was loose and finally the shower head sprays out of the side. The other problem was the door from the kitchen to the living room. I know you can't change the size of the doors or the step from room to room However, my elderly father fell down the step on a number of occasions but my husband hit his head on the door frame, causing a significant cut to his head. The frame around the door is so sharp and unforgiving and no attempt has been made to highlight or reduce the risk of injury on either the low frame or step. There was also a bulb blown in the utility room and although there are spare bulbs, they are the wrong type of bulb. Unfortunately the quality of the beds were poor and uncomfortable. The two beds in the loft area were nothing more than camp beds and none of our party were comfortable at night. The corner location is also a bit of an issue with parking and as it is a pinch point In the road there were many many occasions, where people were emergency stopping as cars were coming the other way and I was fully expecting my car to be damaged at some point. Unfortunately the injury caused a downer to the holiday as it was a terrible hit, causing my husband to fall to the floor with blood pouring from his head. Although the cottage is in a lovely location, the layout and problems with the property would mean that we wouldn't book the location again.

On arrival we entered the cottage; immediately the smell of mould and dampness hit us !
Not only that but it was extremely cold! The heating wasnât put on to warm the cottage up prior to our arrival! Admittedly it was the weekend of storm Arwen so it was quite extreme weather but surely all the more reason to try and heat the cottage for guests comfort! The cottage itself has the potential to be a beautiful place to stay but it is in need of redecorating; there were a few areas that looked like there were some leaks from the eaves as there were drips down some of the walls, the downstairs shower room had black mould where the tiles met the shower tray and the wall at the top of the shower were also mouldy! The wall on the living room up the side of the wall looked like it had damp patches up it! The beds were not very comfortable as the mattresses were hard and seemed narrow and short for the men in our party. The slats in one of the singles slipped out of place! It was disappointing to be honest and such a shame because it has the potential to be such a lovely place to stay ; it just needs a little more thought and some TLC!

The house is just a stones throw from a few bars and clubs which surprisingly you can't hear at night, the road the house is on gets quite busy and can be hard to get a parking space if you leave it tool late. The owners leave a print out car permits valid for two cars which is really useful. Its in a great location, near a big supermarket so you can stock up on food and everything very easily. Its close to the beach which is also ideal. The house is odd, I've never had to put up my own curtains at an air bnb before. There were a few hazards in the house like the banister that was broken, so if you leant on it, you'd knock it over and possibly hurt yourself, as well as that, the microwave made sparks and smoke when being used. There was litter in our room when we arrived. Dirty glasses were left out from the previous guests. Overall it feels like a student house converted to an Air BNB, its functional, but like a student house has lots of broken things, and it wasn't tidy.
